Just found out from the hubby that we may have to relocate in a few months. Talk about stressful. His detailer said that they don't have any shore duty assignments here in San Diego and the only options my husband has are recruiting and instructing. Recruiting could put us ANYWHERE in the country and instructing is basically the east coast. No offense to anyone that lives out there, but I HATED the east coast when we lived out there! I am west coast born and raised and it was COMPLETE culture shock. Maybe it won't be so bad if the Navy moves our horses out there since that will still give me a sense of home and I didn't have that out there, but the thought is killing me right now. I haven't really met anyone on here that is affiliated with the military, but if there is and you have gone through this, please let me know. This is the first time we have had to think about changing duty stations and not wanting to go where they are trying to send us. My husband worked his butt off trying to get us out to Cali again and now it looks like we may have to move. :(

Moving is stressful! I hope he is able to get a job out in California so you don't have to transfer. However...I do live on the East Coast....and as far as Navy goes...I have a few friends that were stationed in California, and then restationed back here. One is in Rhode Island, the other is up in Portsmouth NH. Both areas are nice...but I actually prefer Portsmouth NH. Its much more affordable, you can head up to Maine, New Hampshire or Massachusetts...everything is driving distance, with ease...and you still have the beaches....and lots of other places that have horses. Granted...it gets COLD...but you get use to it (I'm a Florida transplant myself. =) ) Good luck!
