Why commercial diets don't work: Your body is in survival mode 100% of the time. It doesn't care about who got eliminated off your favorite reality TV show, all it cares about is staying alive, thats it. When you take away one energy source, carbs for example your body dips into the reserves (your fat stores) to make up for the loss until the brain finds more of them. If your brain takes too long to find some carbs, your body makes some ajustments and begins using other energy sources in their place, such as fat, and stops pulling from the reserves. In order to lose weight you must learn how to trick your body into constantly pulling from the reserves. The key: Macromanipulation.
