update in my search for LCHF/Ketosis information:

Firstly I will begin by saying that I recently came on board to ask other members who have trodden the path before me to help me with a quick synopsis of Ketosis. I had heard the word used many times on the site but had no idea of what is was or if it was something I should be thinking about. I was lucky. A couple of members were more than happy to share some
info with me, gave me a couple of tried and tested links and broke it down to a level that a novice would understand easily; and for that Im most grateful.

Another member who asked the same question was not so lucky.

One member told her bluntly and rudely to go and do her own research. In other words, dont come here trying to pick our brains, stop being lazy and do the homework yourself. I was lost for words....literally lost for words. The member who posted this made a feeble attemp to disguise such rudeness with some crappy analogy of 'giving a guy a fish to eat or showing him where the river was to fish himself' but the bottom line was clear. Find out for yourself ( you know who you are member X!!!) Well in this analogy Im sure the curious member knows where the river is (internet/books/library) but would have been mightly happy for someone to show her which part of the river to look.
I would say that most of us work hard, have busy lives, families etc etc and simply dont have the MANY MANY hours it would take to trawl through the MILLIONS of postings on MILLIONS of internet sites in order to find some answers. For most of us websites such as FS are absolute life savers because we can come here, make friends and enjoy sharing and imparting some opinions and advice. THATS WHY I JOINED. I believe that members want to help eachother and most of us have a big heart and like to see others doing well, and if we have any involvment in that then even better.
Anyhow, I decided to go 'fishing' and after sitting here for more than 5hours straight I concurr that my original doubts have been confirmed. The more you read the more confusing it gets and often the conflicting advice can make aperson give up trying to figure it all out. My head is spinning and at this moment in time my brain cant take in another fact. Fishing is fine if you are in the right river, with the right tools and know which fish to catch.
My final conclusion is that I will give Ketosis a try but wont get obssessive about it. I think as a beginner (which is where my question came from originally) I will just really cut back on the carbs and sugar, bump up the proteins and include more fat in my diet and see how it goes.
My fishing rod is taking a well deserved rest Smile

Sorry that you are finding it so frustrating ... I dont know much about it myself so I cant help at all : ) Just wanted to say that I understand your frustration because I have been researching many things myself and it is just mind boggling. And so much you dont know which source to believe.
