Six days into 2022 and I'm already stumbling on one of my Resolutions. I haven't made it to the gym once this week, mainly due to muscle spasms in my left thigh. I self-diagnosed this as a tight psoas muscle, since the whole thing seems to emanate from the left side of the lumbar region. The psoas attaches to the lumbar spine, wraps around the pelvis & joins the quad region. How this tightness happened I don't know, but we've had a pretty strong cold snap in OKC lately and there's also the increased weight on the deadlift from the last time I went to the gym. So yesterday I stayed home, used a heating pad on my back & a foam roller for my hip & thigh. Today I'm at work, wearing a compression wrap around my left thigh & just doing a little walking & stretching when I can. My plan this evening is another round of heat & foam roller, combined with some light body weight exercise & some treadmill walking. Maybe I'll make it to the gym Saturday, where I can at least do some upper-body weights - fingers crossed!
