Had a challenging weekend ....I love and hate them at the same time.I love them for the weekend,Yeah no work, then I hate them because food is very challenging. It makes me feel like its ok to binge. At 62 it doesnt happen that way any more.
I wish I could run again I really miss it. My Knees and my hip replacement nixed that( due to running) so I fast walk,I do feel Im not doing enough by looking at the scale. I knee to find that thing that can get me moving. Cold weather makes me want to hibernate.I looked at the LCHF diet and im concerned for high cholesterol. I have cut my carbs getting better at that. Well back to it......Confused

Honestly -- I'd be concerned about the cholesterol too. Even though the new research says that we've been oversensitized on this subject, there's also research that continues to show that high saturated fat diets can lead to higher rates of heart disease and type 2 diabetes. I googled "low cholesterol diet" and it told me to stay under 200 per day, and I shoot for that. But most days I seem to be in the 230 range, and if I eat seafood it shoots up higher, but I don't worry so much because it's low saturated fat. You have to figure out what works best for you and stay on that path. Can you sign up for any kind of movement class to add to your exercise? I'm doing ice skating lessons and then I take the dogs for agility class twice a week, plus walking 40-60 minutes a day. It's hard though -- strenuous exercise is not possible for me either, so I have to find lots of ways to do low impact. Let me know if you come up with any good ideas.

You might want to join the "Operation Weekend Watch" group here on FS. The members post each weekend and support each other. Weekends can sure be hard to get thru and stay on our WOE.

I had both hips replaced last year.....missed 6 months of work thru recovery....I got big afterwards...was still smoking....4 months ago I was 20 lbs overweight.....by 1st Jan I had puit on another 20 lbs since quitting smoking....healthy weight for me is 190 lbs...I was at 232 lbs...wow!!! I have lost almost 20 lbs since New Years...still havent smoked and I never will again.... now...running isnt the answer...I think with you having already had a hip replacement we know just how bad running is for your hips n knees!!!! I walk ...and cycle....and maintain a strict 1300 - 1500 calorie / day diet.....its working for me....my hips are feeling great, as is the rest of my body.... Its easier for me perhaps as I never ever did crave sweets or fast food.....I just like good food ;) Persevere !! You owe it to your new hip !!

For the cholesterol, I look mainly at my stats, I dont go by what journals say, ...I look at the results and i really watchwhat I eat, they say fatty liver will soon overtake heart disease so I try to be very careful and I know good fats from bad but i still get caught up in it ughhhh! I think I worry to much LOL

Yup -- probably you worry too much. But I understand -- like Cod Father, I had two back-to-back injuries that disabled me for almost a year, and that just packed on the pounds. It's very hard getting them off! I was once a very competent ice skater, but haven't been on skates in more than 30 years. But something made me want to try. I have a great instructor and have not fallen in the first two lessons. Third time could be the charm. I'll let you know after tomorrow's lesson!
