I am a bit stressed. Yesterday was a terrible travel day! We left Louisiana around 9 am and planned to drive to Destin, Tx and spend one night there. Had route and RV spot all planned out so we would miss any rush hour traffic in Dallas. Well that didn’t work out! We came into Dallas and hit a terrible rainstorm. We couldn’t drive in it so Joe saw a Walmart and we pulled over. It was extremely humid and hot so we parked and headed for the trailer where we have a generator that can run the AC. Well that didn’t happen. Joe couldn’t get it to start. Sydney ( our dog) was starting to have some distress so we got back in truck and put on the air. She was panting really bad and it scared me. The rainstorm was bad with lots of thunder and lightning. It lasted about an hour. Of course by then it was rush hour and also backed up due to the amount of cars that waited out the storm. In my opinion, Dallas has a very intricate and confusing freeway system. Toll or not to toll, express lanes that aren’t on GPS, extreme amount of construction, and now rush hour traffic. There were interchanges that had basically a very short lane to get over into it and since we were towing our 5th wheel, that was a problem. It was seriously the worst experience and I lived in Southern California for many years. I thought the freeway system in Cal was bad… Texas is much worse! Then we finally get past all that and find out the RV place didn’t have record of our reservation and now they were full! We has to drive to Bridgeport Tx to finally get a spot. There were a few in between but they were closed due to some flooding etc from last storm. Poor Joe was stressed and tired! Hopefully today will be better. 💜🙏💜🙏

Hope your travels are better today ❤️ Dallas does have awful traffic & their side by side express lanes can be confusing if you aren't familiar with them. Even the toll roads that are supposed to reduce commute time are busy. We lived there back in the early 90's. My daughter is still there. It has grown so much!

Sounds like a horrible day! Traffic stresses me out so much and it's even worse after living in a rural area without the heavy traffic. I hate driving through Portland, Oregon after my first trip to visit my niece in Washington. We sat still for about 2 hours because of heavy traffic at 4pm and multiple accidents. There is no way to avoid it when I go see my niece so I do what you tried to do, go at times to miss heavy traffic. I hope you have a/c in your RV now. I feel bad for Joe having to drive through conditions like that. I hate spots where you are trying to get over to exit while others are trying to enter the highway from another highway or when there is little room to merge. Locals will know what lane they need to be in but even with GPS I'm often in the wrong lane. I hope today is better!

That DOES sound very anxiety provoking. Feel bad for all 3 of you. Hopefully today’s travels will be much easier. Things do seem to happen in 3’s right? Crappy weather, rv ac issue and the park mishap. So hopefully that is the last of it for a bit or longer. Where’s your next stop? Im guessing Texas traffic is like Seattle traffic….way too many people moving here over past 30 years with no foresight to build infrastructure to support all those people. There is yet another development going on not far from me on a road that is essentially one way in and one way out and is already overloaded. Happens to be the road the Costco i go to is on so i generally try and go during the late afternoon when folks are at work. But tens of thousands of new homes have been going in and the road is screaming and suffocating already. There’s something to be said for the one baby per couple law china used to have. There are too many people 😂 crowding the roads

Hope you have a better experience after Dallas. I've been to Dallas & Houston many times, and you are right. Their interstates are tight, confusing, and a real pain during rush hour. The rest of Texas is OK. Be safe.
