Good morning.
Today, I really, really, really, have to pull the "Well, today is another day"-card. :/
I did SO poorly yesterday. It was a great day, but I took no consideration of calories, though I did count everything I ate.
If only registering food in a food calculator would burn more calories, I would have had a massive weight drop today. LOL. Boy was I busy registering foods.
We had a fun day yesterday. The sun was shining, and Wife and I were out quite a bit. We didn't move much though, but it feels like we ate all day. At least I did.
I went MASSIVELY over my allowance, and mostly had bad choice foods. Boo.
It shows on the scale today - I am right back where I was Sunday morning, above 80. Not acceptable.
These are the stats from
yesterday.
....
Now, let's focus on TODAY.
It's almost 9 AM and I am already WAY ahead of my accomplishments from yesterday. I already have moved more both in steps and distance than I did yesterday. I have already reached my daily goals in these two categories. The only category to reach goal in now is "calorie burn". It doesn't work quite as fast, as I am looking for a 2800 calorie burn. That doesn't just come in a few hours. However, having moved quite a bit extra today to compensate for yesterday, I am well on my way with
almost 1600 calories burned already. I could go back to bed the rest of the day and still reach goal. :)
This morning, I woke up feeling terrible about my choices yesterday, so at about 4 AM I decided to go do my walk, even if I knew that I was gonna be doing quite a bit of walking and generally be standing up most of the day. I want to make absolutely sure that I reach my goals, and then some. And what better way to make sure than to simply go do it?
So I went walking with a 5 kilometer mission. However, I ended up at 8 kilometers by the time I was home. Nice! At the same time I got to count my steps again, and did a minor adjustment to my stride length on the fitbit. Not too much, and nothing that really matters, just minor tweaking.
I need to do the same with my running stride, but as I don't really run a whole lot, it might be a while before I get to do this.
After my walk I came home to check with Wife when we're going to the gym. She's kind of low on energy today, and asked if she could skip. Of course she can. I want to make sure she makes it through the day, and doesn't get work out for tonight.
...
They gym doesn't open until in three hours, so this is where the perks of working there really comes in handy. A quick phone call to the owner got me permission to go in and train outside opening hours. It was fun to be there on my own, plus I got to choose a different radio station for the music. Normally, it's general "office" pop/rock that plays. Nothing too scary, nothing too edgy, but something everyone can agree on. This, of course, also equals boring music. So I found a great rock channel on
181.fm, and went rockin' through my training. It was so much fun, and I can actually tell I worked a little harder.
I can honestly say I feel BEYOND accomplished for today, and ready to take on the world.
...
I haven't had breakfast yet. I'm simply not hungry, so I will wait until hunger tells me to eat. Then I will have some, but not too much. :)
I posted a question for everyone to ponder on in the
community forum yesterday. It's regarding breakfast. Do we REALLY need it? Does it REALLY matter WHEN we eat, in contrast to WHAT we eat?
It's very interesting to see what people's thoughts and experiences are in this area. I am still a firm believer that our metabolism doesn't FULLY kick in until we eat our first meal. However, I am in no way sure just how much of a difference it makes.
If I can get away with not going over my RDI simply by skipping breakfast if I'm not hungry, and it only costs me, say 50 calories in daily burn, then I couldn't care less. Then that would definitely work for me. Often, having breakfast makes me hungrier all morning, and it sounds like a very tempting trade to simply skip it, still burn plenty of calories, and also have an easier time administrating foods the rest of the day.
If you have thoughts or comments on this, please let me know. :)

Ahead of me is a FUN day - more exciting than most.
Wife and I are going to Copenhagen to enjoy the amazing summer weather that is finally here. We're gonna go do a little shopping and tonight is the KISS concert! This will be SOOOOOO much fun!
I have been a KISS fan since I was a wee boy. I remember seeing their movie Kiss Meets The Phantom of the Park when I was about 10 years old, thirty-some years ago, and I was blown away - and have been a fan ever since.
Of course, today I have the DVD with the movie, and realize that it's utter crap. But who cares. KISS made me interested in music. They made me aware of stage presence as a musician, made me a rock'n'roller, and has been there with me my entire life.
Tonight is a BIG night.
I have seen KISS several times over the years, and they are always fun. Wife have never seen them, so I am dragging here - whether she wants to or not (fortunately, she wants to...) to see them. You can't be an American, be into rock music and NOT have seen KISS live. Nuh-uh. :)
After tonight's concert, we're gonna go sleep at some friends' house, close to Copenhagen, and go back there to do more shopping tomorrow. It's gonna be a mini vacation of sorts. Nice!
I am really looking forward to today. :)
Today, I'm thankful for:
- Vacation time!
- Two days in Copenhagen!
- Feeling accomplished!
- Two of three goals reached before 9 AM!
- KISS tonight! Rock and roll all nite and party every day!
- Wife!
Have an awesome day! Life is good!
