Copies from one of my FB groups. Thoughts?

A lot of people suffer from Stockholm Syndrome. You want to lose weight and become a healthier version of yourself, but you don't consistently do the things you know you need to do to get there. You instead retreat back into your comfort zone, which is basically your own personal prison, which keeps you unhappy.

You are essentially your own captor, and you've become great friends.

You prefer to stay where you’re unhappy, because being unhappy seems easier than the work it takes to get to where you want to be, and so you accept your situation and learn to live with it. It's a pretty cruel form of self-punishment. Why we willingly subject ourselves to things that are destructive is an interesting human behavior. Ironically the things we use to cope with our captivity are the things that keep us captive.

There are basically 2 versions of yourself. There’s the version you want to be, and there’s the version you currently are. And the thing is…most people know deep down what their problems are and why they’ve accepted their captor, aka the version they currently are, but we’re too afraid to confront those problems, so we keep them buried. It’s too scary to face them. Becoming the version you want to be requires an amount of courage and honesty with yourself most of us aren’t willing to summon. But man…when you finally do, you’ll see your life transform.

I don't know... 70 days, 300 kcal/day, down 30 lbs from 26.2 BMI to 22, job done. No sweet, no bread, no butter, no pasta for 10 weeks, it's not that complicated. More reasonable should probably eat a little more, but I'm too lazy to exercise and too impatient for the process to take ages.

Sometimes it’s hard to make a change because the unknown could be a worse situation.

Me until 17th Aug 2012. Part of my personality i do not let resurect, knowing it's still there. Hard for someone to understand if not living with it.

I think it’s roles. My husband was the thin trim one and had a hard time accepting me as anything but the chubby wife. Until it got to be a health issue. Now he has no trouble as he realizes thinner Bobbie is still Bobbie. Nothing changed but my size and that made him feel more secure, and then he really got into my weight loss!

First, before anything else, you have to believe you deserve it.

Makes sense. Losing weight and changing your lifestyle isn't just a physical thing..emotions, mental health, etc all play into it. 💜

I’ve been thinking about this a lot since you posted it! I don’t have all my answers but I’m going to get them. I know I know them even if I don’t always allow them to surface! Yet. I think working out helps you move through some of these self road blocks. That’s how I push through anyway. ✌🏻 Moving physically.
