I can't say that I understand this weight gain.
I comes at no surprise that I haven't loss, but a weight gain?
I'm really going to have to start tracking calories, but it's hard, because I cook from scratch without recipes.
I have to do what needs to be done if I want the results that I want.
I wish I could stay motivated.

Hang in there. I usually just stick to simple foods like salads with protein so that's easy to log in. When I am eating something homemade I just find something similar on fat secret an log it in as that.

I know it may be a pain, but logging each individual ingredient will give you what you need to keep track.

Glad to hear someone is actually cooking and not nuking food in a microwave. I congratulate you for cooking from scratch. I purchased a kitchen scale over the holidays so that I could measure portion sizes. This has helped me a lot since the beginning of the year. I cook love to cook also and this year I have made a new years resolution to cook a new healthy meal every week and try to introduce a new vegetable every week. Take a look at the Skinny Taste Cookbook as it gives you the breakdown on the calories, cholesterol, carbohydrates, fiber, etc.

Sorry I have been off the site as of late. Also sorry to hear you are struggling with weight and motivation. Don't quit, you CAN do this. I also do a fair amount of cooking from scratch and can sympathize. I agree with the poster who recommended a kitchen scale. I further suggest digital with a tare function (re-zero so you can keep adding to the current bowl). The thing I don't do is log EVERY ingredient. If I am having salad, I estimate the good vegetables (lettuce, carrots, broccoli, cucumbers, and tomatoes) - like two cups of salad mix. The real calories, carbs, fat and sodium are coming from the protein, oil, croutons, raisins, nuts, etc - measure those very carefully. I admittedly don't bake a lot and I could see that being very tedious.
Keep plugging away at the process and the results will come. They have to, the math dictates it.

sorry I meant I don't weigh every ingredient, I do log everything even if I use a something like "salad mix" to do so.

Sometimes (certainly with me) its a "back-up", I hope this turns out to be the answer :)
