Quite a few people use small amounts of fats to keep their sugars even and extend their time between carb meals. 🤷🏻♀️Have you checked into the information from Dr. Jason Fung? I haven’t gotten to listening or reading all his stuff because I need to eat for my meds and supplements spaced throughout the day. So fasting ends up just as long as I put off eating in the morning. 💁🏻♀️But I have massive envy of the people who can and can reach the point of autophagy.🙋🏻♀️

Dr. Jason Fung discusses autophagy in his podcast with Megan Ramos dated January 23, 2018 on the 2 Keto Dudes YouTube channel. If fasting for autophagy purposes, water (and salt for electrolytes) only. Even the minimal amino acids in coffee and tea can stop Mtor which stops autophagy.
Here's a link to the YouTube video, but due to FatSecret's link issues/restrictions, it may not post all of it. if not, you should be able to find it from searching the info above.

Thanks, ehead. I'll check it out. Makes sense. I can easily go until 1 or 3 in the afternoon without eating but I gotta have my coffee.

Yeah i tried one meal a day for 2 days with only black coffee in the morning and i felt so cranky. Im not sure if that gets better longer term. I just couldnt do it without some energy in the morning. Has anyone intermittent fasted with one meal a day for a longer term? And what were the effects?

Water only IF. A couple years ago I started with bullet proof, I quickly stopped that, couldn't stand the fat in liquid. I eventually went to black coffee no sweeteners. Now nothing but water, usually eat once a day, maybe twice, especially on the weekend. With practice it gets better. While zero cal is best with any type of fasting, you still gets some benefits with very little calories.

What about using nutpods as your creamer for coffee? It’s dairy free. I stay at under 50 calories for my fast so it works for me

If you are not doing and extended 2 or 3 day fast you are not going into autophagy anyway so why is this a problem?

Dr. Jason Fung is my keto-hero. I find, however, that I have to have coffee to get through the day. Fasting has degrees. I cannot do the strict fast without severe side effects, but have seen benefits from Dr. Atkin's Fat Fast, which Dave Asprey modified for his Bulletproof diet. Dr. Fung has a video about the different kinds of fasts, but I cannot put my hands on it right now. "The truth is out there..."

@zoeenphos, WOE stands for Way Of Eating as a shorthand acronym for saying it. As opposed to a ‘diet’. People are making changes here to their Ways of Eating and their Ways of Life. IF is intermittent fasting, less than 24 hours. OMAD is one meal a day. LOL 😆 shorthand terms because people get tired of typing. 🙋🏻♀️
