. ⬇ & ⬆ for quite a while now. Answers in some aspects of my life and now I'm ready to pick myself back up again. Did some research & love passing on knowledge. You never know if there is someone out there struggling with the same as you! So for the those who knew this..that makes 1 of us 🙈
I've been experiencing a number of irregularities for quite a while now & every now and then there's just something to add to the list! (Learn to listen and be vigilant when it comes to your body/mind)...so hair loss, tired 24/7, missed cycles,⬇ concentration/memonry, moodswings/irritability (24/7 attack mode=FYI so not who I am) ⬇ self-esteem, not EVER feeling satisfied with ANYTHING I eat or drink & cravings=weight gain, insomnia etc. I've had enough and went to Dr 'cause THYROID DUH it's all the symptoms and more..I just need confirmation. But Dr decides to do anemia test too..uhm I donate blood regularly and my iron is ALWAYS normal or above norm so wth?
Seeing as the insomnia and hair loss are at it longest you'd think it started with the ⬇ sleep and every else fell apart over time. Apparently not!!
⬆ insomnia over time causes hormone inbalances which can effect your appetite (leptin, gherlin, serotonin), memory/concentration/irritability/self-esteem/ (serotonin/cortisol), ⬆stres (⬆cortisol=⬆insulin=⬇BS=cravings), ⬆ fatigue..a whole snowball effect actually!! (This I all knew)
BUT what I didn't know..tests came back and haemoglobin and thyroid is 100% but I'm iron deficient..ahahaha what?? So apparently there is a blood cell protein, FERRITIN, that contains iron. This pesky little thing which is stored iron where haemoglobin is blood levels of iron so won't be picked up if you donate blood. The norm you ask? 13-150..20-200ng/ml for women & FYI needs to be 40 for hair growth and 70 for hair re-growth 😱 This also activates your thyroid hormones eg controlling appetite, mood, mentrual cycles. Oh and if it's low you'll suffer from insomnia 😵. Okay but how did it become low if you have a healthy diet, exercise, donate blood, no over allergies/chronic meds?...

Blood donation my lovelies!! This is a very rare thing and does not happen very often to people, but I was the lucky winner pffft! What happens is that specific element in my blood (ferritin) does not recover as fast as it's supposed to. Good news is I can still do my good deed I just have to wait a bit longer than the normal 6-8 weeks after a previous donation. Here's to more Iron, a happier me and more sleep 💪😀

I'm also a blood donor, I am also healthy and exercise, had similar pros to you and started gaining weight, and I'm getting married in 3 months so I'm quite bummed ... Went to the Dr 3 weeks ago and also thought it's my thyroid duh, turns out no thyroid problem, my iron was at 17, and my vitamin D at 10, I'm currently on ds24 and CALCIEFEROL

Interesting post. Just goes to show once more how intricate our bodies are. I havent donated fir a while..I've just had a mental block with it lately. Not sure why because it really is such a selfless and special thing to do.
