I've just been watching 'The Truth About Carbs' on BBC iplayer. I don't know if any of you have seen it, but if not, then I'd recommend it - if you can get BBC iplayer of course.

One good point is that if you're exercising for between 30 minutes and an hour then you can increase your performance by rinsing your mouth every 5 minutes for 10 seconds with sugar water and then spitting it out. It fools your brain into thinking that carbs are coming, which in turn tells your body it can work harder.

A good - and for me reaffirming programme. My in-laws who have always been sceptical about my views on carbs, now reckon they understand where I'm coming from - and agree with me.

It was interesting, wasn't it? It's been mentioned on this forum ever since it was aired.

Carbs gets absorbed while they still in your mouth! Protein and fats absorbed in the stomach. Rinsing mouth with sugary water doesn’t fool your brain, it’s fools you- thinking you doing something harmless..

He bruned 50 more calories and went faster, but I agree with you oljka10-77, I reckon he's just absorbing the sugar without swallowing

If you watched that then you should definitely watch ‘what the health’ on Netflix, it’s American but with the bbc saying carbs are the leading cause of type 2 diabetes this programme says dairy and meat are the leading cause in type 2 diabetes

As an ex type 2 diabetes I can say that meat doesn't raise my blood sugar but carbs do. I wouldn't dare to have oatmeal or bananas or many other fruits as my blood sugar goes haywire. I've been following low carb for a few years now and have gone from being threatened with going on insulin into pre-diabetic - and lost 35 kilos

I also thought it was interesting! There is a programme on tomorrow and Thursday evening about reversing type 2 diabetes through diet.

Minitata.. ha-ha, only extra 50calories. Its just 5 min extra on your workout. Not worth it to rinse ans spit every 5 min. Gym is full weird people, only we didn’t have those who’s leaving their machine every 5 minutes to spit out sugary water. But after that program, I’m sure, we will have some.. 😁

It was brilliant, I’ve pretty much taken out white starchy foods but replaced them with the whole grain. I feel a lot better with less bloating and no cravings! I’m so full at mealtimes I’m not snacking. It’s the white stuff and messes your sugar levels up. I feel in cont and haven’t eaten so well in years. !! X

I watched it But it makes me wonder if - making yout brain think carbs are coming will not make you eat more later on because no carbs arrived
