Not every food needs to be chock full of vitamins. A diet encompasses everything you eat. If you can work some treats in to keep you on track overall, then it can be a good thing. Not everyone can eat 100% healthy foods all the time. There are select few who can, more power to them. That isn't a life for me. I've attempted many times in the last 18 years, now that we know it isn't necessary to reach our goals many of us feel free. Dieting is much easier now.

Calories are not the be all and end all though. Their is so much more Tina healthy diet then just being under calories. It's a big part but technically you can eat nothing of nutritional value and be under Cal's. You won't be healthy for example living off 1500 Cal's of Snickers bars a day and nothing else. Empty calories are just not something Incan get on board with. If it has no nutritional value I ain't eating it. I would rather 1000 Cal's of dates over 500 Cal's of chocolate.

For strictly losing weight calories are what is important. Eating healthier options is better for your overall health and well-being, sure. It is possible to gain weight only eating healthy foods though which can make you unhealthy if you become overweight or obese. So again calories in vs calories out is important for weight loss but just losing weight won't make you healthy.
