DON’T SAY IT!!! You do not have to gain weight!!! Good job making the decision to quit! Stay strong on both fronts - will be the best thing you’ve ever done for yourself and you’re worth it!! I’m going to pray for your strength!!🙏🙏🙏

You don't have to gain, have healthy snacks to keep your mouth occupied. I kept carrot sticks, pretzel rods and even twizzlers handy. Just make sure you account for what you consume and make sure you have choices that fit your woe.

It may sound weird but make yourself a fake cigarette out of a piece of dowel wood or something similar. I called mine my Serro-gette. It helped me when I tried to quit get over the need for something in my hand or danging out my mouth. You won't be reaching for a pack that way. Also there is a zen breathing trick where you mimic the exact breathing as if drawing in smoke and hold and exhale which will give you almost the exact same heady feel as if taking a puff of a cig. It helps. Also make sure not to cheat with the patch on. You can literally give yourself a heart attack with the sudden increase of nicotine. I did that by mistake and nearly killed myself.

Thank you everyone! I'm going to need your help and support all the way. I've smoked for 26 years now and never tried to quit until now...here's to getting it right the first time:-)

Smithglenne needing support is what we all need. I smoked for 28 years, most of that was a pack a day. It is hard, but you can do it. I went from always having a cough to never having a cough. I haven't had pneumonia or bronchitis. I'm not running into the gas station or smoke shop to pay a rediculous amount of money for something that will literally go up in smoke. Plan a few rewards for yourself with some of the money you save.

Eat as you wish for the moment. Not smoking does not cause you to eat more. Not smoking releases your body to change back to a more normal state. You may gain a little weight but it’s just your body saying AH .... I feel better now! Did this 35 years ago!
