Okay my friends...I need to be careful. I tend to fall into a consistant state of fasting around 18 to 20 or more hours very easily and habitually. I am taking in an average of 500 to 800 a day weekly average. I am starting to feel Nauseous and dizzy at times then I realize I have not eaten in ?? hours. To few calories being taken in also. Strange that I just stay at this 140 mark despite the low calorie intake and long fasting time. I want to lose the weight but again I need to be aware and careful and wise. Does anyone else deal with this out there in FS land. 🌺

And that is why one should start with an extremely low calorie deficit n adjust when one plateaus. You will be loving life when body can maintain a lean body with 2000 calories a day 🥰

Fasting is mostly a bad idea. We evolved 1000s of years ago, to store up food when food was plentiful, and reduce our metabolism when food was scarce. Worse, the body not only slows down, but also has evolved to break down muscle that you don’t need because it consumes too much when food is scarce, so any losses you are experiencing includes muscle mass. So if your goal is only that weight, you may achieve a smaller body but it will proportionally be as fat as your bigger body. Two poeple, same sex age and height can be the same weight and look completely different. E.g., one with 5% body fat will look lean and depending on height will look muscled. Someone with 40% body fat will be obviously obese. Eat a little less than your body needs and amp up exercise. At 140, a totally sedentary person needs about 1400 to maintain that weight. 10% less plus lots of exercise will result in 140 kcal deficit per day, and 500kcal in exercise will net you about 1 pound a week loss. You need to give it Time to adjust, as you’ve been putting it through a role coaster.

Dr. Fung does not think it odd at all. You are doing "calorie restriction" and all studies have shown repeatedly that the body will quickly figure it out and match calorie expenditure by reducing metabolic rate. In addition this metabolic rate will remain low over the long-term even if you go back to original caloric intake, UNLESS you have never had issue with insulin resistance or decades of yo-you dieting. There are many alternate ideas to what Matthew presents above, if you fast you will not waste muscle, if you truly fast (not restrict calories every day) your body will happily go to stored fat as its fuel source, not muscle. Your fat is a wood pile, yet the sofa in your house is also made of wood. When you are freezing and truly ready to light a fire - do you go to the wood pile or do you chop of your sofa for the fire?? If you eat every day, your body may not do this as it understands you will be getting more food within 24 hours/adaptation. The Obesity Code is a must read for you. Good luck!

I also am not intending to only take in that few calories conciously. It seems I am eating a lot and it is filling and satisfying when I eat and snack. Yet I was surprised at the weekly average several weeks in a row. Must make changes. There is some great information you are sharing with me.🌺

For me 'nauseous and dizzy' are always a result of low electrolytes. I take an electrolyte supplement daily to eliminate this.

I thought about electrolytes too.🌺

When you are on a very restricted diet, your body goes into starvation mode where it works to preserve itself. You would have better weight loss results if you upped your food intake a bit.

Just be wise and careful. Food is for fuel. Make sure you get enough to function.

I eat about 1000 calories per day. Also bike cycle at least 2 hours a day. You can do it without feeling dizzy. I eat 3 meals a day and no snacks. Feel fantastic.

. I have delt with this undereating and fasting to long for years. I know that we need 1500 calories a day for our brain to even function properly. I tried to seek counsel for this issue. Where I go and with insurance I have available to me, counsel is not an option. They will not touch eating disorders with a 10 foot pole. They are aware but they have to skirt around the issue. Looked into hospital research projects none available when I look. Lost my sister in law( friend & confidant)since highschool. She was helpful as she delt with an overeating disorder. Then came to deal with anerexic /bulimia a couple of episodes through her life. She was treated inpatient and was able to share knowledge with me. I stopped smoking and started eating much more in May 2018. Have gained. 20 to 25 in as many months. I knew when I started eating I would gain and when I chose to lose weight and diet I might fall back into my unhealthy norm. Here I am again, yet not as severe as I am eating more now than in the past. I am aware and catching this at this stage and will correct it now. I need some gentle exercise to start, 1500 calories of healthy food choices, continue to not smoke, don't give into under eating or overeating keep it at 1500. Please don't bail on me because of this. I could use support from you all. All thoughts are welcome. Severe Overeating and undereating etc. are both eating issues. Different sides of the same unhealthy coin. I will try to remain honest and open. Thank you🌺

Let me tell you fasting long periods drastically supresses the appetite. You also learn to ignore hunger and let the feeling pass. Until you reach a place of nausea and weakness, faint, trembling...

Hang in there hi-low. Lots of support here.

I agree with pure eater. Im a super clean eater 99% of the time. I eat 4 meals a day to increase my protien intake. I cosume 1,000 cal a day.The 4th meal is usually a protien shake or greek yogurt or even just a piece of meat. As stated, I workout 6days a week. Im a 5'7" and weigh about 138. I feel great!💜💜💪💪

Reading a little bit about you and realizing a solid series of counseling sessions and learning what triggers your behavior and relationship with food are the cornerstone of improving your view of nutrition and your health. It takes time to accept the causes and effects of what your doing to yourself. If this means paying out of pocket then this is your first step to recovery. All the best to you.
