I want smaller hips.

I have big hips. I have had big hips for a long time. Yes, I've lost 40 pounds, but do you want to know how much hip I've lost?

Half an inch.

That's right, half an inch. Which is why my pants ALL look ridiculous on me.

I started out as a size 20. A very snug size 20. 220 pounds, size 20. That's a lot of 20! :-)

Now I'm 179.8 pounds and a size 18. The size 18s are getting loose, which is good. But they look funny on me. My thighs and waist have shrunk quite a bit. (which of course makes my big butt look even bigger by comparison, I'm sure Sir Mix-a-lot would be happy). I've lost SEVERAL inches off of each thigh, and SEVERAL inches off of my waist. But my BIG BUTT is sticking around.

So all of my pants are really baggy in the legs. But still fit in the butt.

I know that I'm happier with the way that I look than I was 40 pounds ago. In fact, I am so incredibally proud of my accomplishments with WW. I just really want to be out of the plus sizes soon. Is that too much to ask?

I know that I am not supposed to compare myself with others... but it is so freakin' hard sometimes. When I hear about someone who is my height and weight but 3 pants sizes smaller, it IS a little discouraging.

Every body is different. Yes, I know this. I am being a whiny baby. Yep.

Soon I will be fitting comfortably into size 16s. Then come 14s. Then, FINALLY I will be a 12, meaning no more plus sizes. Really though, I just want to fit into a regular size 16 pants. Meaning that I could go buy some new work slacks from the Gap or Old Navy or wherever. And stop looking so sloppy at the office.

I hate how sloppy I look! :-( Stupid pants not coming in half sizes.

What kind of frame do you have? Some people are naturally "hippy" meaning they have a larger pelvis. There are people who have virtually no belly or butt fat but take a larger pants size due to their actual pelvic bones. Although, that said, I feel your pain. I have "childbearing hips" so even without a belly or butt I can't see myself going below a size 10 in pants

hmmm ... I do not think it is unreasonable to want your rear quarters to shrink!! Perhaps it is the LAST place you will loose. Are you doing any target exercise for your Sir Mix-a-lot loves it ... body part??? Hang in there ... and maybe invest in some really nice (not frumpy) pants that have more give in the rear section that make you feel more comfortable!!

I feel you. I have ended up with a small waist, a bigger butt, and huge thighs. My thighs and butt are probably size 14 and my waist is probably size 10. So size 12 fits, but only in certain styles. It try on at least 15 pairs of pants for every one that fits. Think of it this way though, your health risks are much lower if you are "pear shaped" than if you are "apple" shaped. And you are so right, you WILL lose that weight. It just comes off different people in different ways. I lost 4 inches off my hips in the nine weeks I did the Couch to 5K program. Might be worth a try! Thanks for adding me :)

There's not really any way you can lose weight in one spot before any others...your body just kind of decides where it wants to burn the fat. Fortunately, when you get to where your body is happy--its ideal weight (which may or may not be the same as your "recommended weight"--then you will probably have lost a substantial amount in that area. As for now, keep looking for pants. For a very long time I found that western style jeans (though very high waisted) made my body look AWESOME, and you couldn't even tell that they were different than regular jeans when I put a shirt on. More recently, I found one pair of jeans that fit me perfectly, so I bought three pairs of the same pants. God bless you and keep your spirits up!

ahh i tottally feel your pain! i have a large tummy(where i wear my jeans) and largish thighs but small calfs and small ankles which means i can never ever find skinny jeans that look even close to decent also because i have NO bum whatsoever to speak of my jeans are always always falling down. I wish i had a little bit of booty just to hold my jeans up :P

You say you know you should not compare yourself then you say BUT...well, but means you have not accepted yourself. There are some things we can not change no matter what-some of us are bottom heavy and some top and some are fortunate enough to be hour glass shaped. Genetics can not be changed so I truly hope you can embrace your differences and learn to love your curves no matter where they are on your body. It has been hard for me to reconcile that I have all this hanging skin that I am stuck with because there is no way I could ever afford the surgery to fix it. Just the way it is and I have had learn to shop for things that will still look good and make me feel good. I think everyone has something. Back to you: I know you are not done losing but in the mean time I would suggest finding a tailor that can make at least a few items of your clothing fit to your body perfectly so you have some things you feel lovely in. :)
