My body just does not respond well to carbs. I ate a small portion for two days consecutively. (100g of rice on Wednesday / 1 slice toast on Thursday)
I also think that I overdid it with the fruit over the past 2-3 days, so that needs to be limited again for a few days; more to be consumed as a treat NOT A MEAL!

The scale has not moved since starting this little test. The great news about the scale not moving, meaning that when I start to maintain and I eat a small portion of carbs and eat the fruit I SO LOVE, I will maintain weight. (GREAT NEWS FOR THE FUTURE) But for now, I need TO LOSE THE WEIGHT, not maintain it.

For the next 3 days I am going in with as little carbs as possible (simple & complex carbs). Curious to see how my body will respond. I have been cutting simple carbs for most of the 4 weeks, but I want to see what will happen if I cut carbs completely from my diet.

Trying to find a middle ground here.

This morning I had a full on PROTEIN MEAL. HUGE MEAL, which will surely sustain me until tonight.

My birthday in 9 days and you can believe that I will be having a SLICE OF CHOCOLATE CAKE! (hehehehehe)

Fruits have their own sugars that tend to knock me back as well. I also tend to crave fresh fruits that are become my undoing. So yep stay within your limits.

I find that eating low glycemic carbs work for me. Seems if I eat sugar/simple carbs my body likes to hold onto weight. Keep poking around the food cart and try different things and you'll get what works for you.

I personally keep away from refined carbs. That’s breads, white rice and pastas... they don’t agree with me weight loss wise. It takes a long time to drop with those foods in my diet. I eat one fruit if I do have fruit. Not more than that per day. Lately I haven’t had much fruit. I have been having low carb vegetables. I stay away from the starchy kind. Potatoes, butternut etc. if you keep your carbs to 50grams or less per day. You are more likely to drop weight faster. But can you maintain that way of eating? That is the bigger question. Best to work out a diet that you can maintain in the long run. No use eating a certain way to drop the weight and then back to bad habits. A mistake I have made in the past and many others.

Interesting - I tend to have the same effect with carbs... the breads and fruit (although they contain sugar) are pretty low calorie. Which does not make much sense to me (unless you are eating buckets full!) so I am really not sure if the correct recipe! Please keep us posted :)

Something worth remembering is that carbs replenish muscle and liver glycogen. This means it increases water retention, but if your calories were right you should have still been losing fat. When you cut the carbs again you lose the water and the scale moves, this does not mean that cutting the carbs made you lose fat suddenly. 1 week is not nearly long enough to know if a strategy is working because water may still be fluctuating.

TRUE, I forgot the water retention!!!! The one thing I do focus on a lot, is staying within my calories. Think I had one day this month that I did not. I just take it week by week and chup and change things around. Having fun planning meals, logging foods, etc etc. LOVE IT! @Pasco, it is actually something I will be able to sustain, just the FRUIT! I do however only eat watermelon, strawberries, pineapple & cantaloupe. MOSTLY Cantaloupe. I limit high sugar fruits as occasional treats, like grapes etc. So the fruits I consume are low calorie as well. I had no problem with no carbs today, but it was hard not having some cantaloupe, because their is always some in the fridge. My speculation was also correct, I only had some hunger pangs 7pm after that huge meal this morning. For me eating twice a day is more than enough. Have to be honest I do snack on cantaloupe during the day though.

It's awesome you're staying in your calories, if you enjoy your fruit and you can keep within the calories I'd keep it in. Don't get too hung up on day to day changes as long as your average is in the direction you want all is good.

Thanx for the input Viking :) The way I look at it, better to snack on some cantaloupe than chocolate, chips, sweets, cookies etc.

I find the same happens with me when I eat any carbs. So I know it is best for me to just stay below 20% carbs in a day. But I do understand that we are all different and you need to do what is best for you. Listen to the silent voice it knows what you need💕

Thanx for your input Tania. Every little bit helps. :)

I can relate so well to this. day before yesterday, I had 100g of dried prunes (for obvious reasons 😁) and in the eve I tried carbs (spar brown pita with salad and fera) for the first time. I put on 0.3! Yesterday I fasted for 20hrs and drank a lot of water. For supper, I gave in and had 3/4 of a Pizza Perfect pizza (23cm nachos and cheese)...this morning, I'm down by 0.3. Note to self...stay away from carbs, till I reach my goal weight...then slowly introduce. Have a super great day everyone!

@Justinaclaire No, just no. The carbs are not the problem. They just make you retain water. Water is not fat.

The only thing that matters is the amount of calories we have carbs is not the enemy. If I weigh myself now and then drank 2 liters of water I would be 2 kg heaver. This doesn't mean water is making me fat. Also fruit is a great source of fiber which helps lower bad cholesterol no need to cut it out.

Thanx Wez & Viking... both advice noted! Those are absolute the rule I am now going to stick to STAY IN CALORIE!!!!!! And as from this morning... SCREW THE SCALE! NOT healthy to get on a scale every day, so I asked someone to lock it away and I will weight in ONCE A WEEK! I KNOW I am doing all the right things. I will trust the process and just carry on the way I have. 💙💗

This is very interesting. It's about what works for you. I find that eating fruit helps me to feel full and satisfied as fruit is sweet.

CocaLola I am glad you decided not to weigh yourself everyday because that will only play games with your mind. What i do is weigh myself the last 5 days of the month then take the average of that, but once a week is also good.
01 Feb 20 vom Mitglied: wez_c4
It is definitely playing tricks on my mind, Wez. I will stick to once a week on a FRIDAY, because during the week I am extremely focused on my diet. Saturday is normally the day that I have a treat or two. Then I start back again on Sunday. But I have taken to heart what you mentioned previously. If I calculate my weekly calories with my treat day it all amounts to 1200 per day. THAT has really helped me a lot, doing it that way. THANK YOU! Had a hell of a day. Presenting class since 10am until 4pm. Didnt have breakfast; didnt have lunch. I am having ribs tonight... klaar gepraat! There is just ONE RULE I will never ever break again, I will never go back to my Coca Cola days. It has been a month of no Coke and I intend to keep it that way. Thank you for the support xxxxx
