So I have a question for anyone and everyone.
How do you handle not having deserts and unhealthy options at celebrations (grad party, birthday, holidays, etc). Personally it’s been hard, I’m good at telling myself not to eat bad food, but the socially awkward part of me feels so out of place when everyone is enjoying a piece of cake and I’m not..

I try to either eat before or save up my calories for the event and go for the vegies & fresh salads first. If I'm with my husband we usually share a piece of cake. Of course since the pandemic their hasn't been any parties.

I don’t avoid them. I look to see if there is really something special that I would like to try and if there is, I take a REASONABLE SIZE PORTION, enjoy it and thats it. If there are only things that I could have anytime, anyplace (think store bought cookies or grocery store cakes) I just say that I have to pass and not make a big deal of it. I try not to waste calories on things I really don’t want.

There’s no bad or good. If you want it take a serving, enjoy it and walk🚶 away.

I don’t avoid them but I still count the calories.

I "budget" for it. I try to eat light beforehand, stuff like carrots, apples or a banana.If I show up hungry, there's no telling if I'll be able to control my portions. Another option is to cut 100-150 calories/day for the rest of the week to make up the weekly deficit.

I did not quite understand - if it is that - you want to eat a cake, but because you are on weight loss you don't do it or - you do not want to eat a cake but feel awkward that everybody is eating, and you are not? If it is the first case, take a small piece of cake and enjoy it without guilt, but remember about calories intake. There was a nice advice about "budgeting". If it is a second case - simply do not worry, I doubt people pay attention to what you have on your plate. Put some fruits on it, if you think an empty plate could be an offense to the host. If you do not want to eat a meal - why should you? If it was not a cake, but a broccoli, would you still feel awkward that everyone is eating it, and you're not?

Accept a piece of cake to be polite. Allow yourself three small bites of cake, eaten very slowly. Then mangle the rest of the cake around your plate. When someone asks whether you got cake, you can say, "yes, I already had some and it was delicious."

Maybe stop telling yourself that food is bad and learn how to enjoy a piece of cake.

I have them. Unless there is a celebration every other day, you'll be fine. Enjoy life and celebrations.

The dessert doesn’t make a person fat, eating all day with no regard for calories makes a person fat. Eating when you’re not hungry makes a person fat. All the calories count!

I will take a small piece - once you have not had sweets for a while, most of the cakes and things are not tasty. So I end up tossing the half piece that I take with a bite or two taken out, unless it is really good and then I cut calories the next day to make up for it.

Have a small piece and savor the cake and celebrate!

Food isn’t bad or good. It’s about mindful portions. Fit it into your calories, if you find that more acceptable. Accept that sometimes you’ll go over. Doing without tends to be a recipe for disaster, eventually. Like D said, it’d be different if it was an every other day thing. 😊

I taste it ,not always eat a lot, but sometimes I eat it, your body has to have a carb rebuild once in awhile to keep the body guessing and keep things moving, I never call it a cheat day, Just carb rebuild day and then I move on !!!

if you dont want to eat the bad stuff they have , like I know it's okay to have it once in awhile but if you really dont want to , you can bring your own dessert, I like the sugar free jello with nonfat cool whip , I'll have to of those jellos, one lime and one strawberry and then I will have 2 or 3 tablespoons of the cool whip , you can also have a sugar free chocolate pudding and make it with almond milk , or you can have , protein fluff ! or bake healthy cookies and take it with your , just bake your own snack and take it with you!🙌🏼

and I get it , whenever I deny something, they give me like a stare of , pfff🙄 , but I know myself and if I allow myself to have a bite on a NON CHEAT DAY , I'm screwed and I will binge eat almost anything I can have in that moment and the next day as well. So just , laugh it out and be like , nah I'm good , my tummy hurts , thats what I usually say lmao

Tell yourself about all the negative effects of sugar in and on your body...

I take my own .. unless it at my house then I make my own and if all else fails I eat the fruit available with the lowest carbs and just maybe one or two bites of that fruit .
