So I haven't been to Panera in years. Today I went out to lunch because I did not want to stay at work (yea fresh air). I forgot that they added calorie counts to their menu. WOW this was so convenient and so much easier trying to figure out what I wanted. Instead of pulling out my blackberry and having to wait (2G speeds) for the data to pull up so I can try to see what was what it was right there on the menu. I wish more places would do this.

You know, I love eating out in NYC for this reason, they actually put it on the menu everywhere because of some ordinance passed. It's so great to walk into even a Starbucks and see how many calories are in the drinks without having to figure it out.

Me too! I would love to be able to see what is what when I order.. sometimes even when you check on line they make it such a pita to figure out what to order.. Like at red robin.. I hate the way they have their nutritional info set up.. grrr.. it makes me not want to even go there. My kids love that place though.. so once in a while when we let them pick I go through rigamarole to figure out what to order. :P I would also love to have take out menus with the nutritional info on them so I could just look over the menu and see what is best and where... :)

I went today to IHOP (been a long time). I knew they had healthy meals but they put the calorie counts on there menu and take out menu also, but just for their simple and fit meals. It made it easy to figure out what I wanted to order. I just wonder how accurate they are. I got the simple and fit 2 egg breakfast which came with a small bowl of fruit, wheat toast (2 slices), turkey bacon (2 slices), and two portions of egg substitute scrambled. Counting up what I know is about the calories of each I'm not sure that the whole meal was 350 like the menu stated.

I think the new health care bill mandates that all chain restaurants over 10 in number will have to post calories. I don't know when this will go into effect.

It's really useful when you have a calories count on the menu. It's good that more places are being health conscious
