Hi friends I just wanted to ask those who do IF and have lost a significant amount of weight, have you guys managed to keep the weight off after going back not fasting? I just wanna hear people’s experiences with how they maintain their weight after doing IF and how the transition into eating ‘normally’ was? Did you gain a little back? Cause I don’t see myself doing this forever after I lose weight. I will definitely still be mindful of my insulin, hunger and how this affects weightloss but I won’t do IF forever.

I've been on this vibe for a few years. I've been fasting since 2018. i started doing it for the weight loss, I've continued to do it for all the other benefits. my skin is great, I don't get headaches, I have very few uncontrollable cravings... and I attribute that to fasting. I do mostly 16:8. some days more. other days less. I don't fixate on the length of time. my weight loss has been slow compared to many on this platform. but that was a conscious choice to change many things about my life. I think that taking my time and making my choices sustainable is what helps me maintain my weight loss. it literally has become a lifestyle now. I feel bloated and unhappy if I eat too frequently during the day. during my eating window I eat lunch, dinner and a snack or two. my food choices are nutritional and I get eat enough calories to sustain me, while maintaining a decent enough deficit to lose a little consistently. I didn't want to gain it all back as quick as I lost you. I didn't want loose skin. so slow and steady while building muscle was my plan.

fasting has also made me appreciate the sensation of hunger and to understand the difference between hunger Vs emotional eating and avoidance eating. it's made me more mindful of when I eat and why. I very rarely shove anything in my beak now without first considering - am I doing it because I'm hungry, snacky, wanting the treat or do I have an unresolved emotional issue that I'm trying to eat away.i know the difference now because of the mindfulness that came from practicing fasting as a lifestyle choice (much like one would practice yoga or meditation)

I want to share my experience. I did IF first back in 2017 and lost 30kgs. I managed to keep the weight off for two years but then got back into bad eating habits. The main thing is to try and eat clean(ish), manage your portions and eat mindfully (I.e take note of what you’re eating, chew properly, do not watch tv while eating meals and breathe between bites). I then got into lockdown and broke my foot. I.e life happened and I wasn’t prepared for it. Gained back all the weight and felt super despondent. I’m back on IF again and have lost 11kgs in the last 2 months - I find it helps with focus and let’s me have a glass of wine after a long day without any guilt. I went for over a year without IF and was ok. It’s just about being mindful and not falling into emotional eating. At least that was the case for me. Energy management and mindfulness are key in my world!

No. It wasn't a sustainable way of eating (meaning eating like that for at least 2 years.)

I've lost 12kg by just doing IF (20:4), and by occasionally exercising. I've been keeping it off for a year, eating normal... It definitely improved my metabolism, as well as managed my appetite. I did no form of calorie counting. I must also mention that it is NOT for everyone. If it makes you sick, nausea, lightheaded etc... Talk to your doctor first!

I did fasting for a full year, but allowed my portions to gradually grow. so my biggest advice is to not fight hunger by compensating portion size.

Yes I did IF for about 6 months without fail but now I don't Anymore and I'm still losing weight gradually. I started following Jerry Ethier watching his YT videos, following his weight loss plan and nutrition by counting cals daily and inputting everything I eat and make on here or my fitness pal. I feel like I don't actually need IF anymore, as long as I can eat within my caloric range daily
