Last night dreamt I ran a marathon and remember being near the finish line and thinking "keep going, work past the burn." Hilarious cause I'm not a runner at all. Although I've always wanted to be - tried to be. Wish there was an elliptical marathon. I would kick some butt! I ride various cycling events long distance. Just hate running (bad shin splints). Maybe if I keep up this journey I will someday get it done. Funny where your dreams go.

That is funny. I used to dream that I had long hair - in life, I have short hair. Perhaps if you started with slow jogging for a couple of minutes at a time, you could avoid the shin splints?

I can relate to the running thing! I always wanted to be a runner too, but it didn't happen until I was in my 30's! I have ran some 5ks and even medaled in my age group a few times! It is SUPER fun! Anyway my point to this story is I remember thinking "WOW" I guess I CAN RUN!! ;) And I KNOW you can too :) I've kind of been slacking in the running department since putting a few pounds back on so I need to get out there and start again ;)KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!

Yes, I agree. I haven't given up the idea of running. I do try to jog a bit when walking and try to really stretch beforehand. Have a great day Sheryl!

Thanks, wannaloose! Encouraging that it can happen. I walked a 5k and no shin splints cause I stretched before. If i do like Sheryl says and do some slow jogging for short periods, maybe I can do it one day and check off that bucket list. 😃

I could never get into the running thing unless it was sports related. My rule is you only run if something or someone is chasing you lol. I enjoy cycling so much more and it really helps with the injury impact you discussed especially if you get clip in's for your bike so your using your whole leg to spread out the impact.

K - it's funny what you can do that you never thought you could do. I always thought I could never be a runner, and still don't think I can, mainly because my darn chest is so big. But as I've lost weight and developed a better enjoyment of exercise, I find myself doing jogging/running sprints on the treadmill when I walk for a minute or two at a time. The other day when I walked on my lunch hour at work, I actually jogged for half a long block - out in public! I never thought I would/could do these things, but I do now. Who knows...maybe in a year or so I will actually jog for a whole entire workout!? Ha ha. Have a great day, cuz!

Vinny, yeah I'm usually only running when being chased or if when they'd call out "birthday party in the kitchen" at work. Jk. I'm excited about the time change so I can start back on the cycling routine. I do love that more. I don't do the clip ins (hubby does) but will rethink this after your comment. Didn't think about it using the whole of your leg for impact. Never did because of the start and stop issues and have seen so many people (again, hubby) fall or teeter when coming to a stop. Lol! Not really a novice cyclist, yet not a century rider either. Did 60 mile event last year but most on flat roads. Centuries around here involve hills and I need to be more conditioned before doing that. It is on the bucket list, however. And thanks, cuz, for the encouragement! And you go girl! 😄 How'd the stressful event go the other day with your offer?

Well, we put in a lowball offer on the house ($30K under asking price) and we were told the seller would only come down by $3,500. So we're willing to go up another $10K which is still $20K under asking. We should know by Friday if we'll buy it or not. It's 20 houses away from my parents' house!

Oh, and they guy has been trying to sell his house for over 6 months now, which is why we were so willing to lowball him to try to get it. We think he's getting desperate and just might go for it.

K - that's great! Good luck on the offer - you know the neighborhood's great so it sounds perfect. Keep me posted!
