Got thru two major challenges today! First, pastries and cookies brought in at work (and from the best bakery ever) for a co-worker who was retiring today. Didn't eat a darned thing as I'm trying hard not to indulge in the almost daily treats and events at work which have helped my weight to balloon over the past few years. I figure once I'm at a place where I feel a bit more comfortable in my body, then I can participate by picking and choosing those things that are actually treats. I mean, donuts every Friday aren't really treats if they're around all the time. I'm looking to those days when I can have the homemade goodies or special pastries in moderation.

Then, went to a class this evening I've participated in for the last couple of months. Since it was the final class, the company brought in dinner. I had no idea what the food was gonna be. Arrived to find one of my favorites - Famous Dave's. Omg! The horror! Still, did good by having a piece of roasted chicken - no skin - and half of one of the cornbread muffins. Was pretty satisfying and I was proud I didn't cave. Really didn't feel like I was missing much since my mind was set. What helped was knowing that weigh in is tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Hi Kiki nice to meet you and thanks for inviting me to be a Buddy. It is so nice to read about someone who has the will power to achieve. This is such a breath of fresh air on FS where so many talk of failure as they "fell off the wagon" in a moment of weakness. If you get the chance to read my journal you should see that, like you, I have a strong will power, this often upsets people around me who do their best to get me to eat something or other. Now I have found another Buddy with strong will power I do not feel so alone or even like a freak. I look forward to reading your journal every day where I hope to gain inspiration. "WHO DARES WINS"

Thanks, Rob, for the encouragement! Definitely feels better today since my weigh in and I know I would've been kicking myself in the butt had I indulged yesterday. This feels so much better than the food would've tasted!

Good to "meet" you too, Bwy39! I'm finding that the more I engage online with my buddies on this site, the more it keeps my journey focused and on my mind so as to gain motivation and not lose track of what my goals are. The work "parties" are the worst as you're always being asked, why can't you just have a little? My answer now - I can but I'm choosing not to right now as I'm focused on getting healthy. That usually stops the questions as the treats are usually sugar or carbs that end up making them sleepy and dragging the rest of the day. Thanks again for your encouragement!

K - I'm so proud of you!!! Yay! I know what you mean about office food. Working in an ad agency, it's either food or alcohol. I sit in an office that's about 8 paces from our main kitchen and gathering place where all the goodies are and where our 2-tap beer keg is. Usually people get beer just on Fridays or special meetings and parties, but some people come have a cup every afternoon. Luckily, alcohol doesn't really do anything for me these days so I can pass that up. Yesterday there was a HUGE gift basket from our office park management to celebrate our 8th year as tenants and I passed up everything except for one little raspberry macaron, which was delicious and worth it. Every Friday they bring in bagels and cream cheese. I've had one only twice in the last 15 months which is amazing for me. Lately they've been putting out healthy snacks, too, so almost daily I can grab a piece of fruit and a small handful of nuts. Other than those freebies, I find that having my own stockpile of healthy snacks and bringing healthy packed lunches really helps me stay on track (most of the time). :)

K- I think it's one of the hardest parts of the weight loss journey, other than weekends - the office goodies. At home you can bring in what you want and keep those danger foods away. At work, it's more a test on willpower. Friday we had lunch brought in for a "lunch and learn" presentation. Because we have multiple offices, I decided to partipate at my desk via webinar and ate the food I brought with me. How the heck do your people work after drinking? I'd be ready to either nap or party! And thanks, wannaloose, for the support!
