FYI my nutritionist said that women can experience issues with hormone production if they fast too long. She suggested an avg of 9-10 hour wasting window per day for me and 7-8 hour for men. Just some information.

Fasting for women is NOT the same as men. Researching this subject and being an informed participant is very important.

Great job on sticking to your plan and the weight loss!! I have three square between 8 am and 4 pm. The best benefit is IF teaches you appetite control and to put more thought into preparing your meals and to trust yourself with the process.

Thanks! I'm still clinically obese, so any perceived "pitfalls" of fasting far outweigh my risk of being obese. My weight loss has been steady and satisfying since the end of March when I started. :) I've read nearly every research paper pro and con for fasting, plus dozens of books on fasting for both health, weight loss and spiritual reasons. As an aside, I have read/tried nearly every CICO diet or food restrictive diet created in the last 30 years to little effect and great feelings of depravation, hunger and frustration for ever.single.one. But I'm through menopause so many of the perceived issues with obese women fasting don't apply to me (fertility/child bearing/breastfeeding.) The biggest "con" to fasting in trials was a 38% drop out rate, which when compared to long term CICO success/failure rates is still not bad. Only time will tell if this my forever solution, but I'm well fed, energized and most of all satisfied (read NOT hungry) and joyous about many of the NSV of fasting (body recomposition, loss of inflammations and puffiness, loss of joint pain, skin clearer, loss of skin tags, appetite correction, loss of cravings and food obsession, sheer joy and peace around food and all the TIME I get back when not obsessing about what is "right" and "wrong" to eat. I just eat.) Appetite correction means my leptin/ghrelin/insulin as well as other metabolic hormones are back to being balanced like a normal person. I would have paid thousands of dollars for a pill to do that and I get it for FREE!!! I eat every day, delicious 1-2 meals plus snacks, probably 2000-2300 calories most days and nothing is off the table. I just eat based on what my body wants.

Oh, and BTW I was told my most recent blood panels improved dramatically since pre-IF life and both my OB doctor and regular family practitioner are both thrilled, totally on board with my success and looking into IF for themselves and their patients.

You have done the research and are living the proof that this works for you! I go by my fasting window 16-18, which fits better with my current lifestyle and eating habits than an absolute eating window. I have maintained better and less digestion issues so far. So glad I saw your blogs!

Thanks Catwoman! I'm ok with being asked to make sure it's a healthy and correct choice for me. This is my experience, and consistent and peaceful weight loss it is nothing short of miraculous for my fat, insulin resistant body. I understand the fear and skepticism about waiting to eat a few extra hours to eat instead of grazing on low cal stuff every few hours. Totally get it. That used to be me!!!
