I've worked up my food for the day and I,m just under 20 on net carbs but still under a 1000 calories.My head hurt so bad this morning that I had my double espresso.I'll stay clear of the pasta, but I gotta have my espresso at least in the morning.Before it was 3 to 4 times a day so I am really cutting back.Going to check out gyms today so I can start an exerise program Monday.Looking forward to my day 2.

I kept my coffee on Atkins - from what I've read as long as you keep it under 2 cups a day you're okay. Are you new to Atkins or been on it a while. I know the first three days on it, I had horrible headaches and nausea. It says that's normal while your body is "detoxing" from carbs. Good luck, and I hope you get feeling better!

I kept my coffee with double shot and heavy cream...all thru my 97 lbs loss. Be sure and have some salty chicken broth to help soothe cravings and head pains. And as far as the calories...feel free to add some butter to your meals. or a ranch dressing every once in a while :)

Keep the coffee. Cut back slowly. Before long your energy will be good and you won't need it as much. The only way I get my calories in for a day is with low carb salad dressing like blue cheese or caeser. Otherwise, I would not hit enough cals ever. First 3 days suck!!!! It's like an addict going through withdraw. Stay strong, Stay busy. Day 3 is the worst. Get through that and you are Golden.

I had to take migraine pills my first two days. I was addicted to Coca-Cola. Today is my 3rd day, and I feel fantastic! Last night I added 6 fl. oz coffee with heavy cream (I desperately needed to get my calories up, so I decided to take up drinking 1 cup of caffeinated coffee a day). I think that helped. I also had a cup of Oolong Dragon Eye Tea, and I think it might have caffeine in it. I had coffee again with my breakfast so I can make sure I get enough calories today, but unless I drink some tea this afternoon that will be it. Don't worry - the headaches and withdrawals will go away in a few days. I agree with everyone to keep some regular coffee. However, espresso is super-strong, and you were drinking a lot so you'll have to decide. If you have 3 or 4 days to be pretty miserable, I would just cut it down to one a day and get the DTs over with, then maybe later switch to regular coffee if you feel like it. I doubt it will matter if you keep drinking 1 espresso a day, though. :)

I take my espresso black with splenda and it really helped my head today.It's so hard to eat a good breakfast because I am NOT a morning eater.I hit the floor running till around 11 am,but if I do that I can't get 2 more meals in.Second day of eating by 7am so maybe that is why I have a little nausea.And now I only have an hour before I have to have lunch.Are you sure after one more it will get better?I don't think I will like day 3.

If you have trouble getting your breakfast down, why not try a protein drink, or bar?

Re worked my food after more reading.Added avacado and dressing. Ended up with 18.15 nc and 1375 calories.Not perfection but better than day 1.Glad day 2 is over.Maybe I'll try a protien drink,Are they allowed? Can I add Flax Seed.I used to drink a Whey protein drink and add 2 tablespoons of flax seed,plus 1/2 cup blueberries, when I was on a low-fat diet.

Congratulations on your NC! You're getting it up there! You aren't supposed to have blueberries when on Induction. The jusry seems to be mixed on Flax Seed, but most of the veterans seem to say to keep it to 1 Tablespoon if you're going to have it (some say 2). You can have a low-carb protein drink. There are also already-made Atkins protein shakes at the grocery store. I bought a couple, though I haven't used mine yet. You can have up to 2 Atkins products a day on Induction, though some people say they stall when having even 1. However, if I didn't have time for breakfast or it made me ill, I would drink one of the Atkins shake - only because I can't add fruit to one I make it home. I'm not sure when fruit comes in - I'm not reading ahead until I get close to the end of Induction. I don't want to get confused!
