Answer honestly, have you ever made a meal that was a total flop and ugly? I’m serious. 🥺

Thx Erq!! Yes I have wifey 😥 My wife & daughter bought me 5 random ingredients and presented them as an entree basket ala CHOPPED - cod fillets, dried chili pepper (hot), rhubarb soda, speculoos, celeriac. In hindsight, an easy basket but my sauce tried to incorporate the chilis & speculoos and I couldn't get it balanced. I was CHOPPED. 😮🤣

Oh I also had 45 minutes. The was cornmeal fried cod, msdh celeriac potatoes, mixed greens with rhubarb vinagrette and spicy speculoos ketchup. Everything was good except the "ketchup" .. Had a lot of fun but the judges were brutal 🤣🤣🤣

Pre-FS wifey but "The tree falling in the forest" saying applies to unposted bad meals as well 🤔🤣

Sk17, if you get chopped. Who is cooking? I would have messed up everything else, except the ketchup. 😆

Just kidding, I would have messed up on the ketchup. While eating the ingredients.

It's never just me ACB. We all cook. In fact, it's usually a team effort 👍

I should have added a spoonful of speculoos to the egg wash to give it a little ginger spice taste. I'm over it now as I no longer wake up a night screaming "Speculoos! Speculoos!" 🙃

Looks good. Is ketchup a another way to say speculoos butter, or did you combine tomatoes with cookies? 🤔🫓🍅

It was a puree of sherry vinegar, rehydrated chilis & speculoos and other stuff .. just poorly executed
And did you know ..
Ketchup comes from the Hokkien Chinese word, kê-tsiap, the name of a sauce derived from fermented fish. It is believed that traders brought fish sauce from Vietnam to southeastern China. The British likely encountered ketchup in Southeast Asia, returned home, and tried to replicate the fermented dark sauce.

Have you heard of Korea Town pizza? It’s an LA thing, I think, but you have the tools. Try it.
