BTW, for the cramps, I'd go to a runner's forum and ask. I remember side aches from running super fast* when I was a kid, but nothing like what you're describing because it was always on the same side and I could also get it sprinting in the pool.
*"super fast" being an undefined burst of lightning fast speed that only existed in my head. :)

You can start with soup cans for weights.

Yeah, soup cans or fill up empty milk jugs with water. If you have a mesh bag you can put books in it or anything. The weight adds up quick. All sorts of things around rhe house you can use for weight training.

Soup cans or bottles of water are good. I prefer water bottles as they fit my hand better.

Could be generic ovarian cyst pain being aggravated by abdomen tension. Usually that kind of pain tends to switch sides from cycle to cycle as diff ovaries will release an egg (I think, but double-check with an OBGYN).

8.5 mile is rather a long continuous run for any average people. Suggest to have multiple breaks in the route (fast walking to ease the pain). I ran & walked 10 mile last few weeks, pain over achilles tendon that need 2 recovery days. On lifting weight, fill up empty bottles with water & try them gradually. Stay safe !

you can even pick up small hand weights ( dumbbells ) at target or Walmart and get some resistance training in that way.

I agree with the others!! Kat said it…body weight exercise like planks and push-ups. There’s modifications you can do. Each day you’ll build strength!! 🌟💪🏼🌟

make sure your getting enough protein, your body has a hard time building muscle with little protein (or too few calories)..... check out break through pains for the running..... the running forums are an excellent idea to ask around

you could have ovarian cysts. I'd find another doctor

I have not experienced pains as you say but you could be just shaking things up enough that the internal friction is causing pain. Despite what a doctor might say about it, I had one fallopian tube cut off and it occasionally causes me pain even though the doctor said I "should" not have pain there.

I used to get side cramps from running as a young person all the time. I thought they were a normal part of running, though I don’t get them as an older runner. To be fair these did not feel quite like menstrual cramps. I’ve occasionally had digestive issues while running that do feel like menstrual cramps. Good luck! Congrats on your endurance!

How long did your run take?

I agree with everyone on here. If it is a sharp pain directly where your ovary would be, that's one thing (I've had them multiple times), but I agree that I'd start on a runner's forum and not jump to conclusions...be mindful and monitor your body..
And maybe don't worry too much about the shaky arms after leaf blowing, I lift and I still get shaky forearms after weed whipping 😂

Dumbbell Thrusters then dumbbell rows. Do this on the days you don’t run. I’m a big fan of burpees also.

Thank you, everyone! I appreciate all the support! @mattride, I'm usually ok during the run, I used to run half marathons. The pain is always after my run, especially if I have to balance on one leg or the other, like when I'm changing or putting on shoes. @cstrutz, wouldn't cysts show up on the ultrasound? I am switching drs next year for better or worse so we'll see what they say! @sneepsnort, it took a little over an hour and a half! @jcordy, thanks, I'm glad I'm not the only one! I'll definitely check out some runner's forums. @adamevegod1 LOL my fat self, that's who! 😆 @william, how can you love burpies!! They do work though! Again, thanks everyone for the advice! I'll check out some runner's forums and start working these arms!!
