I am starting I.F (Intermittent fasting) today. So I had my last meal now. Anything after 3 PM, I won't allow myself to eat anything, until tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM. This will also include not drinking caffeine, in the afternoon, until tomorrow morning 1st thing, without milk, cream and even sweetener, so just simple black coffee.

I do believe this is the legit way of doing Intermittent fasting for yourself. As milk and even sweetener counts as a calorie.

I want to do IF, but I need my coffee with cream and sweetener in the morning or there will be crimes committed... LOL otherwise, only eating 2 meals a day, one at 12, one at 6pm. I prefer eating later in the day, keeps me from wanting to snack on the baddies at night and I am not hungry in the mornings.

Lol. I hear you. So lets start small? You can DO IF, just don't eat. Consume your coffee, with cream and sweetener for a while. Then slowly take away your cream or sweetener 1st. I would personally take the cream away 1st, as you can still enjoy sweet black coffee hahah. Then after a few weeks, take away sweetener. Ta-da, you done it haha!

I started IF yesterday but I have lunch (12h00 ish) and dinner (before 19h00) only. Herbal tea in the mornings until 12h00. Strangely I have not been hungry at all and keep worrying about my water intake to ensure hydration. Do you suggest high protein and low carbs in this instance of IF?

@ZeeBee214. Good evening (well on this side). I do Keto. So my fat intake is 75% of my calorie intake, per day. And my protein would be about 30% per day. I try to have less carbs daily, it seems anything below 30 Grams, I am able to survive and handle Intermittent fasting, this is my personal experience that I have been playing around. But if my carbs increase to 50 Grams, Intermittent fasting becomes hard, and I feel hungry. You are not supposed to feel hungry during Intermittent fasting, and if you do feel hungry, you are doing something wrong. During Intermittent fasting, you suppose to feel great, lots of Energy and not hungry at all. And, to much protein converts into carbs. And carbs is indeed made as a fuel source for your body. BUT when the carb in your body diminishes, It sends singles and panic alerts to your body "Hungry, we need more fuel". Thus, making it harder to do Intermittent fasting. But when you are in Ketosis, (Your body is burning fat from your body and whatever you consume) you don't feel hungry, but to a point. Ketosis helps with Intermittent fasting, and you can usually do Intermittent fasting to 48 hours at a time when you are keto adaptation. And always keep your water intake up during Intermittent fasting. If you suffer from Acid reflux like I do. I will drink hot water during Intermittent fasting. As cold water on a empty stomach hurts me (acid reflux). Hope this helps:)

Thanks for the valuable input. I don’t seem to be reaching my RDI however, today my contribution was Carbs:35% and protein 29 % .. I still have 800 off deficit on my RDI but can’t eat more .. hoping to balance this out soon.

Sooo fat has a much higher calorie count than carbs and protein. So in other words. I have a daily limit of 1800 calories per day, what boost my calories is when i consume 20 Grams of coconut oil and 20 grams of salted butter. This pushes the calories to 300 easily, I add those two fats with my coffee in case you wondering. You can push the fat more by adding fresh cream :)

I can’t do high fat, I get very sick, I stick to protein that is low calories and salads, not a lot of carbs

I keep hearing so many conflicting stories of intermittent fasting versus 6 small meals....it has left me so confused....I want to try the 8pm fast to 12pm break .... how many calories do I eat in that period though ?

@GennyPenn, if i may ask. What type of fats did you consume? How many grams of fat per day? I also get sick when i consume to much fat OR, if i drink a lot of water right after consuming only fat.

@Bulaye. Hello:). I never heard of 6 small meals a day. Remember your Digestive system will work hard when consuming 6 small meals a day. Your Digestive System will benefit more by intermittent fasting. Because it's resting, relaxing, not working at all. And each time you intermittent fasting, your Digestive System improves overall. This is my believeth and personal opinion and experience, think out the box. how many calories do you eat in that period though? For the 6 meals a day or intermittent fasting? For 6 meals a day, depending on your age, height, gender and what is your goal. But for intermittent fasting, you can't anything at all. And my daily calorie that I am allowed to have, is 1800 a day. I am 28, 175 CM and 98 kgs. It was recommended I eat 2500 calories, but I can't consume that much........... Hope this helps!

@stefan4 I’ll do like a quarter avo, or a choppie, eggs that type of thing I can’t do all those lekker oil’s everyone can do

Stefan I also don’t drink liquids when I eat that just makes me naar, I try to drink a glass of water every hour, I hardly drink coffee because that makes me very sick :(, I drink like mint teas or rooibos or earl grey

@gennypenn. Do a test run, add 1 Teaspoon of Olive Oil with the quarter avo, smash it up together, add salt and pepper, and see how you feel afterwards. Do this for 3-5 days, and if you have not felt sick, add an extra 1 teaspoon of Olive Oil with the quarter avo, and then see how you feel...... You don't need to consume fat like other people do, by eating coconut oil by the spoons lol. Also, make sure you had protein before you consume fat 1st. Because consuming fat on a empty stomach for most, can be very rich.
