Sherillynn's Notizen, 01 Mai 11

Last night, I was reading a thread on the Atkins website related to stalls and plateaus. Its about 270 pages long and I've only gotten through a very small portion of it, but it made me decide that I need to rev up my metabolism a little bit and get things moving agin here. I keep gaining and losing the same 2# and even though I feel I am following the plan fairly accurately, (I won't say perfect), I seem to be slowing down way more than what I would like.
With that being said, I formulated a new plan of attack for today. I am keeping my calories at around 1700-1800 and adding some cardio. I went to Wally World and bought the kettlebell workout and a few other exercise DVDs. I resisted any impulse to buy the Beach Body or P90X at this point. I think those are a bit too advanced for me. I just finished about 40 minutes of the kettlebell workout and I have to say, it kicked my middle aged butt! I am sure Ben Gay will be sleeping with me tonight but I successfully did 40 minutes of it which consisted of the warmup and the first two workouts. I was not able to do the thrid one. YET!

As I look at my BMR and the number of calories that I have been taking in, I think I may have actually been moving myself into starvation mode and not realising it. My monthly average calorie intake is about 1500 per day. If my BMR is 1658, that puts me at a deficit every single day, thus the starvation. I learned all of this from the thread I am reading and it does make sense. Taking all of this into consideration, I'll try upping the calories a bit more here and see what happens.

Another thing that I though was interesting--> sort of a God moment here. At church this morning, part of the sermon was actually about taking care of our bodies and how God wants what is best for me. I keep trying to do all of this alone and at times, weight loss is overwhelming. One of the verses today was 2 Peter 1:3a "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness."
The other verse was 1Cor 6:19-20 "Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?" With that being said, it was confirmed to me that God DOES want me to lose this weight to take care of my body and that everything I need to do it, He has already given me. I really needed to hear that this morning.

Blessings to all of you. Thanks for all your words of encouragement!

Sherill, you've had a good day educating and motivating yourself by reading about how your body works on Adkins, and also by attending church and hearing the very appropriate message. Sometime the messages are there right when we need to hear them. Have a wonderful week, friend!
