Trying to get more fiber through natural foods while not increasing sugar. Would be interested in hearing about any natural food sources of fiber that others are including in their healthy eating. I'm trying to stay away from foods that are high on the glycemic index yet trying to keep my eating varied and interesting. Not very easy!

You need both soluble and insoluble fiber in your diet. Research the benefits of both - one is important to keep moving food waste through your system. The other has many more health benefits. Then "google" the best foods in each category. Good Luck !

Good advice, crazycatchick. 😊 For more research fun, do a little digging into what fiber does for the microbiome -- your gut bacteria. They're finding that insoluble fiber does more than just keep things moving. It's what feeds your healthy microbes, and in turn, they provide immense health benefits to you. Since I learned about the microbiome, I've considered fiber to be the single most important nutrient for me to track and optimize

Thanks everyone for so many wonderful high fiber food suggestions and information about fiber! I know I will be referring back to this journal entry and hope others benefit will from the great ideas for adding more fiber to their diet as well. I'm looking forward to creating interesting meals using these food choices!

Avocado is an option. It has very healthy fats as well.
