Greeneyes007's Notizen, 11 Jan 15

Going to spend some extra time in the kitchen today. I want to pre-measure some meat and cook it and freeze it so all I have to do is pull it out of the freezer and warm it up. I'm trying to plan my menu for about 3 days. It's gets hard when you cook for everyone else and then have to think of something for yourself. A lot of the time I'll just make a quick salad and then I'm hungry later. I'm hoping by planning my meals like this and having the meat already weighted out it will be much easier to eat a filling meal while also staying on track. I'm also going to try to consume only 20-25 net carbs a day and hopefully I'll see a bigger loss next weigh in.

Have a great day. :)

Sounds like a great plan. It is more difficult when severely restricting carbs and cooking for others. Without planning ahead it's almost impossible. Keep up the great work!

I like this idea. I think planning your meals in advance will free up your time for other things and will give you more food variety instead of a salad. Good luck!

Why not cook mostly the same for everyone and maybe add an extra side for them? easier for you.

I do that sometimes Wholefoodnut, but I have a family member that I take care of that has special dietary needs, so their food has some restrictions and sometimes I have to puree it. And my pre-teen doesn't need to be low carb.

Preteens do need their healthy calories, my 13 year old grandsons are bottomless. They know I don't have junk food and cook healthy for them as well. It can be hard caring for someone with special needs. I lived with my mom for awhile with esophageal and throat cancer so had to make puréed high calorie high nutrition soup out of everything to keep her calories up, those so-called liquid meal replacements just made her sick. For the kids, add extra potatoes, whole grains, fruits, to your basic meals. It would be exhausting cooking multiple meals.

Planning is the best. You are on the right track for portion control

Sometimes I purposely prepare more of complete meals that I can eat and make "tv dinners" so when I don't feel like cooking I just pull it out of the freezer and microwave that puppy.

way to plan ahead!! it really helps me when i plan ahead make meal plans and measure/weigh out a couple of days worth of food. I also make a menu and it really has saved my butt loads of times.. I usually make one extra portion at dinner so I can have for lunch the next day. 20-25 carbs will come easy once you get the hang of it.

Good for you!!

i found it so much easier to have pre cooked chicken breast with the seasoning ready to pop into a tortilla with fresh veg added when made... it really made the grabbing the wrong foods habits easier to avoid.. what i need to do is what you're doing, portioning and freezing, the next level of control. Thanks for the inspiration x

I cook the same for anyone in the house as for me. The great part is that the hubby started learning better eating habits and lost some weight too. I just give him bigger portions. Kids need to learn good eating habits and what better way than to see them on their plates?
