Went shopping with my daughter yesterday. She needed work and summer school clothes. Thought I'd grab a couple of things to hold me and replace the clown pants. I went straight for the 18-20s out of habit; finally grabbed a pair of 16 pants and some large(instead of 1XL) tops. Got in line for the dressing room and sort of freaked out. Turned around and left everything there. It was so weird--I desparately need some new things for work, but I just couldn't try them on the new sizes. What is up with that??

Anyway--got the clothes my daughter needed. I will try to figure out what happened with me- emotionally-and get back out there.

If your like me, it is fear. I can't seem to go try on new clothes because I am afraid I will be disappointed and not fit into the size I am trying. For work, I wear black pants from Target. I had gotten to the point that they were about to fall off me if I had something in my pocket. So I decided to go get new ones. I thought that they were so big that I should be down 2 sizes. They ones I have are 14's so I tried on some 10's. Not even close to a fit. So I got a pair of 12s. Well, the strange thing was the 12s are a bit big. I still think the 10's should have fit but NO WAY!! I also tend to try on my old jeans and i still can't get into them. Again, it is really upsetting to me. but i am on my way :) Go by yourself to the store and try some things on. It will help ifyou don't have to tell anyone "nope, to little". There is just so much pressure in shopping with someone. At least, there is for me. This weekend I tried on some Miss Me jeans. They are really big in Texas and have lots of Bling on the pockets. Good for people like me with no butt. Anyway, I fit into the size 31's!! I am happy with that. But i will not purcahse a pair until I get smaller. They cost over $100 bucks a pair and I am not even close to my goal size.... not wasting money but sure was glad i can now get into a pair. 31 is the largest they make apparently. I think it is good for you to go to stores and try things on. I believe it helps you with your new self image. but again, I would go alone. You can do it!!!

I just bought a pair of jeans~the pair I was wearing were so large (18W). I spent more than a hour and about 10 pairs of jeans later finally found a pair that fit comfortably, Lee's relaxed fit size 16; regular size not W. I did feel a little self conscious in the regular section! I thought to myself what are you doing here? Nothing is going to fit, but I had some luck. I had to buy new clothes because I don't have any old clothes in smaller sizes, all my clothing is 18W and up. That was enough for me for one day. Maybe I will go back and try on other clothes another day~ Just give it a try.

At one time I in a 22 heading for a 24. These days I am in a 12 in most things. But I still absolutely hate clothes shopping.

You should have tried them on. Smaller sizes will give you something to look forward to. I love trying on clothes that do not fit yet, but are close. I bought a few pairs of shorts that are too small, but I can now get them on, just not zipped. But, at least I can tell my shape is changing, even though the scale might not be as much as I want. I love shopping now. Good luck to you!

For the longest time, I couldn't bring myself to go shopping for smaller clothes. I had some things just 1 size smaller than I started with, so eventually, I tried those on and was pleasantly surprised that they fit again. But when I knew I had dropped more than a size or two, I was hesitant to go shopping, as well. I think I was afraid to be disappointed that I couldn't fit in as small a size as I thought I might be...afraid to try on a size 16 (or whatever size) only to find it would still be way too tight, or something like that. But I spent some time just clothes shopping during DH's business trip, so I had all the time in the world in a city I only visit about once a year. Actually had a great time trying on lots of things, just to see if.... I've resurrected a number of older, but classic items I had stored away PLUS I've been carefully shopping at a thrift store where everything's generally $1. That way, I'm not going broke buying items that will end up being too big in a few months. When you're ready....you'll have a blast! And, you'll be surprised at how your attitude changes when you're wearing smaller clothes that fit you and are not droopy/baggy/too big!
