based on age, height, weight and activity level - most online calculators will say my Base Metabolic Rate is about 1600 calories or less. with significant activity, that could raise to 2700 at the very highest.

That was an eye opener to know my body, nor a lot of people's, need 2000 calories. my current plan is 1800-1900 a day.

I never base calories on exercise because exercise is not for weight loss. and, there are not very many things i can control. i may not be able to control the day to say i can always exercise. BUT, i CAN control the number of calories that go in my mouth. always.
