While working to figure out maintenance I fluctuated up 5-8 pounds. This caused a uptick in mild anxiety..."uh oh I been here before", work my butt off only to say ok - I'm good, when I am really susceptible to falling off the wagon. Been logging but getting a little lax with portion amounts. Salad dressing is my nemesis I love salad and blue cheese dressing, I log "two" tablespoons but is it really just two. I knew I was lying so I got out a measuring spoon and realized my two was more like four🤦🏻‍♂️

Doing well in the Gym and Walking longer when the weather allows, using the treadmill is boring but I am being consistent. I think I realized long ago that while exercise makes me feel good and at my age I really need to keep mobile, it's a different thing than diet. "Diet and Exercise" is always lumped together but for weight loss my experience is I can miss a day in the gym or not walk my 10,000-15,000 steps and maintain my weight. Now if my macros are off or I get lax with eating then the scale will open my eyes.

I adjusted my last goal to 175 to give me some wiggle room, I am within a couple of pounds of that but it has taken a lifetime to get the last 5 pounds off. I think 180 is probably optimal for me even if all the BMI/Bodyfat calculators say different. I think in my silly head if I could just see the goal number, I could focus more on the recomposition my body needs. This IS where the resistance training is important. Funny how people are trained from birth to reach the target.

Regardless of all the above, I am happy with my accomplishments, I feel healthy, my wife thinks I look good (bonus) and I keep working at staying healthy with maybe a little less emphasis on weight and more on longevity. 😀

Sounds like a good balance. How you feel at a reasonable weight even if it is not “ideal” is more important than a number. Good luck in maintaining your weight.
