How did I put back on 30 lbs. in a little over a year. Gained back everything I lost. Journaling and portion control, I just realized I lost 5 lbs. in 5 days, this past week. I have a goal of getting to 180 lbs, by the time I turn 60. (which is in about 2 years!) I know what to do, what work has to be done, I've done it before. I just let a few things stop me last time. I just need to learn when life gets you down, don't go for a donut, go for a walk! It's my life, my body, my happiness. Go for it girl!

Kathy, you can do this if I did. I would go on a "diet" lose the weight then gain more back than I lost. Actually before I started fatsecret I took a serious look at what I was eating, how I like to cook, what caused the failures in keeping the lost weight off. I realized that I could not go on a diet but had to make sustainable changes in my life. Sustainable being the most important word. Both in the way I was eating, drinking, and exercising.. I wrote down a basic plan of adding veggies and fruits, decreasing junk foods, measuring portions and it has been tweaked over the several years to fit my life. I tracked everything. Joining here helped with tracking as it was so much easier than writing it down and doing the math. The support of others has been huge! I never realized what a journey this would become affecting everything in my life.

Thank you so much for your help. I just get so frustrated with myself. My hubby is in on this journey with me this time. It was a tremendous help when we walked every day, last time. For now I'm just working out indoors until we get a break in the snowy weather. I've always supported the belief in "slow and steady" wins the race. Congrats to you. You're doing very well. You keep inspiring.

Kathy, with your DH also on the journey with you that should help a lot!! I need to start pushing myself again to exercise it makes me feel so much better. Lots of life getting in the way recently.

My nutritionist says the key is "mindful eating." Those of us with less-than-healthy eating habits aren't so mindful of when and what we are eating unless we think we are in diet-mode.
