rhontique's Notizen, 19 Dez 15

Wrapped Christmas packages off and on most of the day. Fixed lamb burgers and green beans for dinner. Went to an auction with DH and another couple last night, didn't find anything I couldn't live without, but enjoyed the evening just the same. Not much excitement, but the scale was down a little this morning. Official weigh in tomorrow morning. It has been a good week!

DH and I both love lamb and yes it is expensive in the grocery store. We live in the country and a neighbor raises sheep. We bought a lamb and had it processed at a local locker, so very reasonable price for us. Lamb has a distinctive flavor, kind of a gamey almost aftertaste. It seems you either love it or hate it. We like the burgers better than beef. But I don't like meatloaf or meatballs made from it. Go figure!

Try mixing the ground lamb with some ground pork and ground beef for meatloaf, that's one of my many meatloaf strategies and it turns out well. I'm a lamb aficionado, too, but like already mentioned it's a bit on the steep side.

I bought some lamb chops many moons ago when I first got married. while it was cooking it smelled like wet dog, so I thought the meat was bad and I throw it away. I told my mama about it and she said the meat was not bad that, that was the way lamb smells. I have eaten everything from rabbit squirrel bear moose dear (anything wild), but none of it smelled like a wet dog. HA so Rhontique is right you either love or you hate it. I can't taste it because I can't get over the smell.

I've never eaten Lamb, but have enter the curiosity realm of my life. I have a pound of ground mutton in the freezer I've been trying to decide what to do with. So, just use it like I would ground beef?

FatgirlJenny, DH and I like to just use it to make burgers. I hope you have lamb and not mutton. Mutton is an older sheep and the meat is much stronger in flavor and I don't care for it.

Ughhh.. no, it's mutton. Guess I'll Google and see what to do with it. Thanks!
