Feeling good about nutrition direction. After the Consumer Reports article came out, I've decided to transition our family to as much organic as we can manage. We'll eat what we have here (except for green beans) and transition beginning with this week's groceries. Now that it's spring, I'm eating more salads. And I've cut way down on salt. Thinking these positive changes will help. Oddly, researching and beefing up my diabetic cat's nutrition (which means all our cats plus neighborhood cats we feed) has caused me to take a closer look at my own nutrition.

Going organic or non processed is always a good choice. I try to do my best but sometimes it’s difficult to find affordable choices. I do my best..

That's one of my hard to kick habits, Hippie - salt. I rarely use it on my plate except for on plain baked potatoes, but I use too much when I cook. Use a wide variety of herbs and spices, but still use too much.

Windy, it's been my nemesis. I'm doing it though. Replaced salted everything bagel seasoning on popcorn with garlic powder etc. VERY light salt mixture on other things. It's a big change but I'm getting used to the flavor of food with much less salt. Diana, fresh organic is THE most expensive way to eat. It's less processed and doesn't require pesticides, so why is that? Something is very wrong...

Good for you, Hippie. I can do it, I have before, but it creeps back up over time. Weird how that happens 😅 time I cut back as well again

I just read this very morning Dr. Cate Shanahan’s recent article on how salt is “not even a little bad for our health.” Of course not knowing other’s unique health needs, but salt is delicious and aok to me. But I confess- I generally do the opposite of what main stream medicine advices, so my input should be taken with a grain of..

I've read similar myself, Cici. I think cutting back in my situation might help with water retention. (?) I am definitely in the alternative camp when it comes to nutrition and medicine. Curious what this Dr says about salt and water retention. Cute pun also! 😉🤗

I've switched to using Badia Complete as my salt substitute. It's all flavor and lower sodium.

I used a little Badia on my food today! ☺️ Re: salt -- my blood pressure has been a little high. I think my salt addiction isn't helping. My doctor told me it has an immediate effect on blood pressure. Can't hurt to cut way back and see what happens. 🙄
