Some times I think I should write down my philosophy of my diet.

So here it goes.

It's not really a diet, it just adjusting what I eat to fit what that 180lb person I want to be might eat.

Fruits and vegitables:
YAY!!", have at them, they should fill the bulk of my diet, try to lean heavier on the vegitables, they, in general, are lower calerie per gram then fruits. Potatos are not a vegitable,neither apparently are split peas, they are like a bread high net carb values.

Beads, Grains, Pastas:
Breads should be the high fiber stuff(not just wheat), and as little as posible. Pasta's same goes as the bread. Oats, good for you, eat them as plain as you can stand. Rice, stick to the brown stuff, and limit it. Potato's, all varieties including sweet and yams, do not eat with bread!! They have outragious net carb values, but they are better then regular bread because they are starches snd take more work to break down then white flour, I think, but if you are going to eat them, eat the skin. And they taste fine with just salt and pepper.

Meats:
Pork, fish(white fish because I don't like red fish, they are oily), beef, chicken, turkey, ect.. eat lean when you have it, if it doesn't come in lean, like smoked ham, just limit it. I don't really like meat so I don't eat it very often. I also have high blood sugar(not diabetes), and meats, while a protein, release more glucose into the blood stream when broken down the the same volume of pasta will,adn will do it in en even shorter amount of time.

Beas and Legumes:
"Bean, Beans, the musial fruit
The more you eat, the more you toot
The more you toot, the better you feel
So eat your beans at every meal!"

Childish? Yes, but true. Beans are high in fiber, so they can give you gas, live with it. They are like splite peas, high net carb values, but the same reason that they cause you gas is the same one that will fill you up faster. Eat these instead of bread, or potatos. (and take beano if you must).

Dairy:
Skim milk is your freind, even if it is nasty. Cheese, they do come in low fat. Yogurt, if I must. Cottage cheese, only the pinapple salad ones. Sour cream, rarily. Cream, never. Ice cream, thats a sugar right? Every thing else, I don't really eat much dairy.

Fats, Oil's and Sugar:
Olive oit is you freind, but don't use it to fry, it will burn. Pam is an even better friend, she works and doesn't add to your butt. Sugar, try not to add any(to those who would say use Splenda or something, I can taste the chemical, and although the artificial stuff is sweet it doesn't have the underlying fruity flavor that sugar has); use the most miniscule amount. Fats, cut it off where you can,and drain it away always.

Exercise:
GO TO THE GYM!!! If you can't make the gym, walk around. If it is raining, pace: while swinging two cans of corn or something. If you can't pace, fidget, if that is bugging someone, tell them tuff. If you can't figet, then obviously you are in the hospitol hooked up to life support and you won't have to worry about loosing weight because the stomach tube will limit what you eat anyway...

And that is my diet parameters.
My philosophy is, denying all cravings will only cause binges or weight retention, so say "Yes, come on in," to your cravings, but finish with, "but, only for a little bit, I have thngs to do," and mean it.

Dieting is like the sobriety wagaon, or that horse, when you fall off GET THE HECK BACK ON!!, start back up, it's a learning experiance, for every lapse in your diet routine, you just found a pit fall to walk around.

I LOVE this post...!!! You, my darling....are awesome! A buddy of mine...who I hold in the highest regard...had suggested that *whatever one chooses for a diet - it simply MUST be sustainable...* My focus has now shifted to much more like what you are doing!! And I KNOW I could live with that for life...there is a definitive downward trend to your graph and that is the BEST way to do it...you make it look easy...! Huggies...>deb
