Better day at the gym. I showed up late, so did not walk in with Cute Brunette. I may have done that on purpose on a subconscious level so I wouldn't have to face her. Turns out she wasn't there today anyway.
For the record, "Cute Brunette" is half my age. I have no romantic intentions toward her at all as I am happily married. She is just really nice and easy to talk to and quite attractive. (Her eyes are a totally amazing mix of green, gray, and ice blue that are unlike any I have seen before.) She is also totally out of my league even if I were closer to her age and not married.
So anyway. Last night I drilled a new hole in my belt, so my pants stayed up this time. Wife thinks I should get a new belt, but I do not want to for several reasons:
• First off, I like this belt. It is solid leather. Not the PU leather that is really just plastic coating over leather two stips that filled with what looks like paper on between layers.
• It is still a functional belt. Why get rid of something that works perfectly fine just because it is old?
• Finally, it has sort of become my measuring stick of my journey thus far [see belt timeline photo]. At my heaviest I was in the 4th hole from the end. It was falling into that notch the day after Thanksgiving last year that made me realize that I really needed to start thinking about losing weight. I began to lay some of the ground work at that time that has allowed me to succeed.
So my now tighter belt allowed me to exercise at full speed and finally break the 4.5 mile mark on the elliptical "65 minute cross training program". Been edging closer to the mark for a few weeks now, only to keep falling short. Today I got 4.59 miles!
Thanks for everyone who supported me after my ... experience ... yesterday. I am glad everyone was able to get a chuckle, even if it was at my expense. Here is hoping everyone of you lose enough that your pants, too, fall down in a very public and embarrassing manner. :-D
Have a great weekend.
