Yesterday I got a call from my doctor's office about the results of my lab tests. I had them done on Wednesday. They told me the doctor says everything is fine. I asked "even the cholesterol?" Some numbers were not quite normal last time. She said it fine. After I got off the phone I remembered I had asked my doctor to check CRP C Reactive Protein. It has never been fine. It's always off the charts high. I don't think they really know what it means and I think my doctor has stopped worrying about it. The number dropped a lot a few years ago when I lost 50 pounds but was still high. Both my doctor and I
thought maybe it would go down after I had my gallbladder out, but it didn't. Now I can actually see areas that have inflammation, in both ankles and my knee. So I'm sure CRP can't be normal. CRP indicates inflammation in the body. I can review the results online with the lab but they don't have them posted yet. That happened last time, my doctor got the results right away but I couldn't see them for about 3 days. I noticed this time he requested the test for high sensitivity CRP.

I am finding it way too easy to do absolutely nothing all day if I want. I have an excuse, my knee. I am hoping that if I rest it, it may heal. I am using a wedge pillow to keep my knee elevated, but I have told myself I have to get up at least once an hour and move around a bit. I keep a pedometer in my pocket and my goal is at least 200 steps an hour. It usually ends up being 400 or more steps. My new commitment is to pack at least one thing every day, throw something out and clean something. I have no idea when the house I will be moving to will be built or even when they will start building. This morning I brought a,framed picture in from the garage, cleaned it (glass front) and got the vacuum to clean any dust on the picture. Then I packed it using an old towel instead of newspaper. Then filled up the rest of the box with other small framed pictures. Since I had the vacuum out, I vacuumed the kitchen and hallway by the guest rooms. Changed the sheets on the bed in the guest room and mopped the kitchen floor. So I've met my packing and cleaning goals for the day. Now my knee is aching after going up and down the garage stairs at least a dozen times.

Plan to bake chicken breast and make Asian chicken salad for lunch. My eating has been bad for about 2 weeks. I hope to get back on track soon, but until I really feel the commitment in my mind I keep on eating things I shouldn't.

Saw my regular doctor yesterday. He ordered some lab work. I asked for CRP to check how bad inflammation is. It's always bad but I thought it might be a little better after losing a little weight. I think he is also checking cholesterol numbers and thyroid. He checks my thyroid regularly since twice I had hyperthryoidism. But it's been a long time and I don't have the symptoms (always starving and not gaining weight no matter how many cans of cashews I eat!).

He referred me to Physical Therapy for my knee. 1st available appointment for an evaluation is March 4th and I was also set up for 3 or 4 more therapy appointments to start with. My doctor also sent a referral to the orthopedist I asked him about for a 2nd opinion. I hope they call me soon!

I asked him about the puffiness or swelling on the outside of both ankles. Feels like fluid in there. He said it's very common and it's inflammation probably caused by arthritis. I asked him if it's okay to go on walks. He said yes, on level surfaces. He said not to go on dirt trails for example (my favorite is a dirt trail). So I guess it's okay to walk in my neighborhood. I will just avoid inclines and declines as much as I can. It sounds like inclines are better than declines on the knee. I asked him about the meniscus tear. It sounds as if it is torn almost all the way through. He said it's possible they can heal. I asked about knee arthroscopy as opposed to knee replacement and he said the recovery time is quicker from the scope, but more than likely I'd need the knee replacement eventually.

I went to CVS and bought a cane or walking stick and have been practicing using it. After I woke up one day and couldn't put an ounce of weight on my right knee I limped around for almost 2 weeks before I was able to walk again. Maybe that limping made things worse. So I want a cane close by in case something like that happens again. I also got the wedge pillow I ordered from Amazon (as well as a food scale that weighs in grams as well as ounces!) yesterday. I came all rolled up and it took a couple hours for it to unwind and get in to the shape it's supposed to be in. It's bigger than I thought. Not sure about it yet. When I lay down on it with a blanket over me I have at least 2 cats that think it's a tower for them.

Planned on making chicken stew today, but it's almost 2:30 so will make it tomorrow. Had 2 tacos from Jimboy's yesterday! I also went to Famous Footwear and bought a pair of Skechers slip on shoes that seem to have enough support for walking. They really are easy to step into! Maybe because they are all wide, at least all the boxes I saw.

Went over on both carbs and calories today. I'm rethinking my eating times doing IF. I usually eat from around 5-6am until 1-2pm. I'm used to not being hungry at night. But I've been getting up so early and having just coffee anywhere from 4:30-5:30 and nothing to eat until maybe 8 or 9 am, if then. I'm ending up having my last meal before 11am so I get really hungry in the late afternoon. I used to always have some kind of toast with coffee in the morning, whether 1/4 bagel, or half English muffin or toast. Sometimes I'd have a bowl of cereal like Cheerios or Life. But since I'm trying keep carbs under 100 grams a day I'm only having coffee.

The other day I noticed puffiness on the outside of both ankles and it feels like there may be fluid in there. Something else to ask my doctor about next week. I ordered a wedge pillow to keep my legs elevated when laying down. Thought about ordering a walking stick or cane in case I wake up again one day unable to put weight on my knee. Then decided to look for them at CVS or Walgreens.

I got a decent night's sleep last night by keeping 2 of my cats out of the bedroom. They were happy enough sleeping in the guest room with a heated throw on the bed. I still had Bobby and one cat. Bobby sometimes wants to burrow under the quilt but knows to go to the very end of the bed and not lean against me. Tony the cat will sleep without budging until morning. Hope to do the same thing tonight so I can sleep until at least 5am.
