The scale has said 169 for a week straight now. But I know that I'm doing better overall than I was 6 months ago when I weighed in at 193 at the doctor's office at my last visit.
I'm still encouraged by the fact that I am fitting into some pants that I haven't worn in a loooooong time, and even those are a little loose on me!
On Saturday, I was at the mall with my 8-year old (shopping for a dress for her to go to the daddy/daughter dance at school), and I ran into a lady that I have known for years through work, but we mostly interact via e-mail since we work in different buildings. The first thing she said to me was, "When did you lose all this weight?"
Yeah. Made my day....

Went for a 2 mile walk today after having a reasonable dinner! Yay me! Stayed on track with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Yay me! Have plenty of room for a satisfying snack later on tonight...if I want it. Yay!
Oh--I can't believe I almost forgot this! An older fellow that I work with had commented to me on my weight loss last week. He was very encouraging, and said I was looking good. Today, he saw me in the hall and (jokingly) called me, "Look at you, Twiggy!" Which is hilarious. But I know that he was basically giving me a "Way to go! Thumbs up! You're doing great!" I smiled all afternoon. Twiggy. Haha. But it still felt great.

1. Someone, please, get all the kids' Easter candy out of my house!!
2. I am so glad that there is only about 1/3 of one slice of the AMAZING chocolate pie my stepdaughter made for the family for Easter dinner. I have asked others in the house to consume what is left to remove any further temptation.
3. I do better controlling my eating when I am at work, pack my breakfast and lunch, and am busy, busy, busy and can avoid temptation. Today, I was home w/ my 8-year old (she was sick with a cold and a low-grade fever). At home. Alllllllll day. With all the Easter leftovers. And leftover Easter candy. And leftover Easter dreamy, chocolate pie. But I kept it pretty well under control. I could've done better, but I am still within my calorie target range for the day. Whoo-hoo!
Have my breakfast and lunch packed for tomorrow, and I think I'll be back at work, where I'll be safe!
4. Oh--and according to this BMI calculator thingy I plugged my info into, I am happy to report that I am now only "overweight" and no longer "obese." Granted, I'm on the high end of overweight, only 0.8 points from being obese, but STILL. Here's to, one day, being in "normal" range again!

During Lent, instead of giving up something specific like, sweets or potatoes or TV or Facebook, I gave up "excessive calories." I set a calorie limit of 1200 calories per day and gave up "everything above 1200."
With the exception of Sundays, I adhered to this faithfully. On Sundays, since those are celebratory "feast days," I ate whatever I wanted. As much as I wanted.
End of Lent: I lost about 10 pounds during Lent. And that was with some pretty crazy Sunday eating. Yesterday was no exception. Whoo-hoo! We had an awesome Easter feast yesterday.
Now that Lent has ended, I decided that this has been a pretty effective way, for me, to be more healthy with my eating. Post Lent, I'm going to allow myself more flexibility in my daily calories (no sweat if I go over 1200), but I'm still going to strive for keeping my overall calorie count around 1200. It's about 80% of my RDI maintaining weight, which should keep on the weight loss path. I might change up my "feast days" to be Saturdays or Fridays, depending on the family schedule, but mainly enjoying one day per week to give in to all my cravings.
What was interesting to me during my Lenten journey was that I was always so sure that I was going to cram every off-limit food item I wanted into my Sunday feast day. And although my caloric intake was certainly very high on those days compared to the rest of the days of the week were, I just found that I couldn't eat everything I wanted to eat in one day. I couldn't indulge in all that I wanted to indulge in. Maybe I am actually getting accustomed to making healthier choices and smaller portions!!!
Today? I have saved enough calories to allow myself one more slice of chocolate pie that my oldest daughter made and brought over for Easter Sunday. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and chocolate pie later tonight, and I will still be under 1200 calories for the day!
[BTW--went to Village Inn for lunch, and I have had the hardest time trying to enter lunch info into my log of what I actually ate. I resorted to adding food items from some other restaurants in an attempt to track my lunch.]
168.5 is what my scale still says, even after feasting on Easter Sunday! I go back to my endocrinologist in May, and I hope that I'm down another 10 lbs by then. Won't he be surprised when I go in for my 6-month check-up and I'm 30-40 lbs lighter than I was in October?! I'm very hopeful. Here's to watching the scale continue to march down into to the 150's!!

So, I have this digital scale. I don't think it's very accurate. I think it has a 2-3 lb swing to it. So, I don't get all worked up about stepping on the scale and it reading (in one day's time) 2 lbs lighter than the day before. Or, 1.5 pounds lighter. Or 2 pounds heavier. I'm used to the fact that this scale isn't very sensitive. But, today still felt like a milestone, because it is the first time I have had a reading under 170. Now, the scale might not move again for a week or two at all, and then it might jump a pound or 2 pounds in one day. As long as it keeps. Moving. Down. Whoo-hoo!
