Water weight. I have pretty bad edema from the medication I've been taking - huge amounts of steroids and pantoprazole. I'm going off the pantoprazole today and that should help some.

Otherwise, my health is pretty good. I've been walking at least a mile a day, split into four sessions to keep my blood moving and I feel stronger. It's gloomy, rainy, and cold now, so sometimes my "walking" consists of jogging in place on my son's mini trampoline combined with jogs around the house, but mostly I walk outside.

I wonder if anyone knows of any non-salt, low fat noshes I can eat in the evenings? The steroids make me think I'm famished and I can't sleep when I'm hungry, but I have to be careful of fat, protein, and salt. Apples and carrots can only do so much (and I don't like carrots).

I went off of pantoprazole as well. It helps. I now eat sauerkraut to keep the bacteria going in my gut. I know the steroid story - our best friend and worst enemy. Ugh! I don't know what a nosh is, so can't help you there. Take care

I like to buy mini cucumbers and slice them up. Gives a nice crunch with hardly any calories.

Sauerkraut (and kimchi) are great, except that I can't tolerate that much sodium. But it gives me an idea. Baby cucumbers with a yogurt and dill dip would be satisfying and low sodium. Thanks.

By nosh, I just meant I'm looking for low sodium snacks that don't add too much fat or calories.

Steroids make me hungry too!! Apples and carrots don’t keep you full. Protein and fat do. Here’s a few meals that make me feel full… 1. 80/20 hamburger w mushrooms, broccoli & Worcestershire sauce 2. Chicken breast w red peppers and onion & 1/2 avocado 3. Steak w broccoli or asparagus and baked sweet potato fries w olive oil. 4. Snack: 0% Fage Greek Yogurt w stevia and 1 tbs unsweetened dark chocolate Hersheys cocoa powder w 1 tbs unsweetened maple syrup 5. Canned white tuna w light Hellman’s Mayo on Dave’s Killer Bread w 1oz sharp cheddar cheese. These meals always keep me full!

Another meal that keeps me full…butterball ground turkey sausage w riced cauliflower and frozen peas. My version of dirty rice.

Do you work in different fruits and veggies other than apples or carrots? Berries of all sorts are tasty and pack a lot of filling fiber. There are a lot of other vegetable options to munch on. You can always mix dill and other spices into nonfat Greek yogurt for a veggie dip. I find if I get a lot of fiber, it definitely keeps me full

Protein and fat keep me full, but I'm on a low protein diet because of my kidneys. I found something that works, though, for anyone interested - old fashioned oatmeal with raisins, walnuts, and skim milk. It's not as high in protein as some of these suggestions, but it's filling and it makes me sleepy. The big problem is not being able to sleep for hunger and this is working so far. Thanks for all the tips, though. I will use some of them during the day.
