FloridaAngel's Notizen, 09 Okt 16

Was really stuck for awhile but it seems as long as I stay clear of too many carbs and eat alot of fat I can stay on track, free from cravings. It blows my mind that I was almost 50 lbs heavier. I bought 30 lbs of dog food last week and could not lift it! : ) I am now painfully watching my sister get fat. She signed up for FS and tried logging one day, that night she said she was already so over her calories that she stopped. It's the cravings that kill us, her addiction to soda keeps her body wanting more of everything. She is one of those people everyone gives great advice to, that never uses it. It's sad because cravings can control us so easily if we eat or drink the garbage sold to us, yet with enough fight in us, we can overcome anything.

Great post FloridaAngel, totally agree with you! Well done on your weight loss. Carbs especially from sugar are ruining our diets and health.

I am a carb addict! Refined carbs are EVIL! The more you eat the more you want. I have to abstain or I am doomed!

People who are addicted to sugar and refined carbs do not want to discuss it! Eventually they will hit bottom and realize they need to help themselves. Sugar detox is needed. We all know that it takes a week or so of feeling miserable before coming out on the other side to be able to resist the addiction. Then abstinence is a daily struggle in our sugar addicted society. This takes commitment, education and determination. Sugar detox; it's a real thing. I wish there could be a public service campaign about it. We can help people, but most people who are hooked don't want to hear it.- especially from family members where dynamics are already complex! It's tricky!!

You're doing great! I agree with everything Erika said. Admitting to the addiction is difficult. We all know about drug and alcohol addiction, but there should be education on sugar addiction and detox.

Food is so entangled with mental health issues. We all know that losing weight is a personal exploration, healing and growth journey. It's not just physical; it's metabolic, psychological and spiritual. A real grappling with who we are and who we are becoming! - how much control we can exert on our own destiny! Living in a society that pushes unhealthy food as money making commodity, makes our bodies a battle ground. Big corporations push us to eat, eat, eat. Resisting that push is a battle for our right to be healthy and happy!

Thanks again : ) @Erika commercials are for unhealthy foods, drugs and lawyers asking us to "Tell them anything". Should be laws to protect us from this barrage of corporate greed and ads telling us we are broken. (they can sensor alcohol and smoking ads)

Everyday in my journey, I have daily battles with food: the smell, textures, color, cravings. I accept this but I CHOOSE TO WIN!!! Lead by example.

Cravings... I'm not sure what your stance is on medications is but I was deadly against taking diet pills for almost 2 decades and at the beginning of 2015 my doctor convinced me to try it as a last ditch effort before getting a lapband. It kick started my metabolism for the first time in my adult life and I FINALLY started to lose beyond the lowest weight that I would always get stuck at. It helped to eliminate my CONSTANT food cravings. I was only allowed to take it for 3 months but it was enough to get the momentum going better than anything else had yet. If you want to know what the meds were feel free to ask. In the end I know it was the calorie counting and strict restrictions that got me there, but the boost didn't hurt. No matter what you do just try to fill up on liquids (not sugar liquids obviously) and distract yourself alot so you don't eat out of habit. I wish you and your sister the best of luck! :-)
