Chris1979's Notizen, 17 Mai 10

My best friend from high school's mom passed away today. I'm stunned. She had been sick for awhile, with pancreatic cancer, but she beat breast cancer when we were in college so I always assumed she'd beat this too. She was such a great lady, so fun and bubbly. The kind of mom we didn't mind hanging around with as high school girls. My friend is pregnant so I can't imagine how horrible it is to go through this while also dealing with crazy pregnancy hormones. Her mom was only 60 years old. It made me soooo greatful that I was able to spend some quality time with my own mother this weekend (who is older than 60 by the way). Sure, my mother gets on my nerves sometimes but I cannot imagine not having her in my life. I know someday she won't be, but I'm not going to take her for granted.

I was planning on doing a fast today anyways but now I really have no appetite. :(

THREE THINGS I'M GRATEFUL FOR TODAY
1) My mommy!!!
2) Cheesecake Factory dinner date to look forward to this weekend
3) Finding a great deal on a nice Coach purse

Enjoy your day friends~ treasure your parents! :)

So sad and a horrible painful disease to die from. My father died from this 7 years ago. So sorry for your loss. Sure puts our lives in perspective. Try to have a good day Chris.

Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss - it must be hard for your friend to lose her mom while pregnant, knowing that she will never know her grandchild. My mother has stage 4 breast cancer, though as of right now shes doing pretty well, I know far to well how fast it can happen. Take care of the loved ones in your life. Ok, enough of that sad stuff - CHEESECAKE FACTORY!!!! Whacha gona order?? One of my favorite deserts there is the strawberry shortcake, and its more than enough to share! Have a good one!!!

I'm so sorry about your friend's mother, my boyfriend's father passed away from pancreatic cancer last June. It is terribly slow, for the person suffering, and so fast for the family. It's so hard to have to go through that, send my love and prayers to your friend's family. I don't know if you are a LONG time reader of my journals, but I worked at the Cheesecake Factory for 6 years, and being a Philly girl, I'm guessing you're heading out to KOP this weekend?

Thanks Cathy! I'm sorry your father went through that too. My grandma had it also and it took her at 67. Momo- isn't cancer just the worst. I'm glad your mother is doing well. I'm not sure what I'm going to get but I love those lettuce wrap things... Please tell me they aren't like 50 points. I'm just going to have a pice of Salem's cheesecake... he always gets the Oreo one. :) Alli- I'm sorry about your bf's father. It is such an awful disease. So much pain and suffering. :( On a better note~ You got it! KOP for dinner and then my fiance wants to see Iron Man 2. I hate the word fiance I can't wait til I can just say husband. :)

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about that. Poor friend! It's so cliche and I usually hate when people say it but things like that do help you put everything else into perspective. I got a note last week that my 40-yr old pilates teacher died suddenly from a brain aneurysm. Just like that: OVer. Life is precious. And so our our moms.

I also hated the word fiance. I always thought of that Seinfeld episode when than woman says fianCE. Just a silly word.
