02 November 2011

Busy day at Segunda Vida yesterday, there is a mountain of merchandise to be sorted and priced and still a lot of arranging to do. The old owners left the store in a pretty big mess, which is probably one of the reasons why they were'nt making any money.

Did not get to the gym today as I wanted to, but I thought it better to get some rest because I have another busy day at the store and we are getting ready for a camp reunion this weekend over in the beautiful Ocala National Forest. That will give plenty of opportunities for exercise!

On other things going on, I got a call from the woman who was the volunteer coordinator at the art show in September, on the last day of the show I found out that she is a handywoman and has a thriving business. I told her I did that kind of thing as well and she ended up calling me yesterday to see if I wanted to come work for her a couple days a week.

So now I have more work thank I can shake a stick at! It seems many prayers have been answered.

Have a wonderful day! Peace.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

It's a rainy, cool morning here in the sunshine state and I am in my studio getting ready to paint for a while. I guess I should go get some candy in case we have trick-or-treaters tonight. We had none last year but it was raining then too. Due to clear by tonight or so the weather report goes. We'll see. Candy in the house is not not my biggest temptation, and I can always take the rest to the store or to church.

I can't believe there's only 60 days left in the year 2011. What a year it has been! I am getting back to my normal routine but the last few weeks have been a challenge. I haven't even done my regular weigh-in, but I will be back at the gym tomorrow and will deal with Mr. Scales at that point.

In addition to many other things I have learned this past year and a half, it is the importance of planning my food and exercise ahead when I know I am going to be incredibly busy, which is a lot of the time. It is a key factor for successful weight loss and achieving a healthy lifestyle. This was something I did very well over the summer but let slip a bit in October. It strongly illustrates the importance and power of journaling, logging food and exercise, it not only helps to keep me on track and focused on my LTP, but also provides an accounting that can be reviewed and evaluated as time goes on.

In years past when I attempted (many times) weight loss and healthy eating, if I encountered a bump in the road in the form of gaining back weight or a bad life experience, it would send me back down that old familiar road of self-loathing and feeling like a failure which would lead to more bad behavior, and would ultimately lead to me giving up and abandoning my plan. It was an easy out.

The biggest difference between then and now is the positive way I perceive myself and the steadfast belief that I will succeed despite setbacks that are bound to occur. I remember a scene from Fried Green Tomatoes when Kathy Bate's character Evelyn was putting back up a bedroom wall that she had previously demolished in front of her much perplexed husband. When questioned about her actions and what exactly had changed she replied "the air and the light". That's exactly the way I feel, even though I haven't demolished any walls and rebuilt them. Yet. The air and the light have been let in to my soul and is nuturing a person that is becoming all that she can be. The only limitations are ones I impose on myself.

As we get ready for a busy holiday season I think it is important to start planning now, the last day of October. With a good solid eating and exercise plan in the pocket it will ensure a fun but healthy holiday and avoid all those nasty feelings of guilt and shame, and replace them with positive feelings of pride and accomplishment. I will not be one of those people that on January 2nd declare it's time for a change and rush headlong into a "diet" and hit the gym so hard that it hits back! That day will just be another day for me. Yep.

One day at a time, girlfriend. Slow and steady wins the race! And it fosters the right kind of air and light.

Now, off to go buy some candy for OTHERS to enjoy. I'll have an apple thank you.

Peace.

I can't believe it's been a week since I journaled! Time just got away from me I guess.

Got back from Joy's on Tuesday and I have been busy as usual. I was able to go to the gym Wednesday but not Thursday, today I am going for a bike ride.

Next week I will officially be employed at Segunda Vida, part-time. I am thrilled! It will give me some much-needed steady income, serve a great cause, and allow me time to pursue my career as an illustrator and artist.

Getting my food plan back on track too, I admit I strayed a bit when I was gone, so back to bidness here in AuntieJan world. I am setting some challenges for myself to get ready for the holidays, this will include changing my diet slightly and bumping up the intensity of my exercise. I am amazed at how well my body responds to the physical activity so I am going to introduce some HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) into the mix. My trainer is a great instructor with this and I am going to use her guidance as well.

Well that's about it for now, have a great day and happy Halloween!

Beautiful day here today, sun is shining brightly, temperature is a cool 61º(F) and I took Molly and one of Joy's dogs for a walk around the lake this morning, it was gorgeous albeit a little cool with the wind blowing from the NW across the water.

My headache is gone (yay) and today I am grooming dogs and drawing. I went to Michael's yesterday to replenish my drawing/marker paper. At first I thought they didn't have it because it was not in the same area as the other art paper, but when I was looking for an eraser (I use a type called a kneaded eraser, it is a malliable eraser and very versatile), and my graphic paper was located by the pen and ink section. Go figure. Anyway, I am armed for artistic bear and ready to go hunting! OK so that was a weird analogy but it sort of worked. LOL!

I am making chicken soup with lots of veggies in it for supper today, I love homemade soup and only eat the crap out of the can under dire circumstances. The weather is perfect for this kind of dish today!

The hot humid days of summer have vanished, and the cooler weather is a reminder that the holidays are just around the corner! Lest I forget, Joy's house is decked out in every Christmas decoration imaginable. She just skips Halloween and Thanksgiving and goes straight for the Big One. LOL. Did you know it's only 64 days until Christmas? I know this because Joy's Christmas clock told me so. :-) Here's a little of what the place looks like. This is a mere sprinkling of Christmas.

Ho ho ho. Have a wonderful day!
