TIP OF THE DAY: when faced with poor choices at a restaurant, just ask for something custom. Don't want bacon and cheese? Just ask for plain eggs on toast!
OK -- today other than the "junk" calories (a bite of pie, a sprite) I did well. But you can't say I had a good day, because I went over my calorie limit. Why?
The junk calories.
Something else I noticed (trying to be more mindful, as in the lovely book SAVOR by Thich Nhat Hanh) is that the most FILLING meal I had all day today was the serving of baby carrots and 2 celery stalks with chunky peanut butter. Kinda counter intuitive, but I was definitely more full after that than I was at any other meal.
I like having the eggs and toast option at Einstein Bros' in the morning because eggs are high in MUFAs (and research shows they don't actually raise cholesterol in the majority of the population), they are filling, AND I've noticed I lose more weight when I eat eggs, probably because they are filling and not fattening. I feel stupid now because I had to wrack up courage to ASK for eggs on toast at Einstein's: it's not on the menu.
But they let me have it :) At first they charged me for a full egg, bacon and cheese sandwich (ugh, but it was worth it since I used to eat that anyway) but now they figured out to just charge me for "bread : add egg". (How novel.)

Well I'm maintaining at 151 for 2 days in a row now! :) I'm kind of excited because (despite not recording a weight entry) I've fluctuated all over the place most days since I last recoreded a weigh in. I think it's water weight. But the fact I'm maintaining 4 pounds below 155 where I started makes me happy, at least I've lowered my plateu :D
I'm drinking nettle tea which seems to give me a big energy burst. I'm thinking this will help me lose more weight.
Today I FORGOT MY CASH so I won't be able to eat until I get home, ha! Not sure if this is bad or good. XD

Well! Today is one of my best diet days ever! I'm probably going to have 1 more slice of the Ezekiel sprout bread with some celery and peanut butter (1 or 2 teaspoons) and banana or some other fruit (and/ or some kind of soup) before I go to bed. I'm *really super excited*! I have LOTS of energy!
Stuff today I did differently:
1) sprouted grain bread
2) egg in morning
3) nettle tea / detox tea / licorice tea
4) spread meals around (slightly smaller, more of them)
I'm also excited about trying Udi's gluten free bread. Supposedly it is *soft and tastes like real bread*.

You know, I'm starting to figure something out: It's not just HOW many calories, but how many FILLING calories. Empty calories are horrible not just because they're bad for you but also because you have to eat more to make up for their sheer emptiness.
For example, 1 slice of pizza = around 450 calories, and while very satisfying in terms of flavor and that feeling that you just ate something substantial, you really need another piece to feel fully satisfied.
Here's a good replacement: 1 taco bell fresco bean burrito and 1 taco bell fresco chicken soft taco. This comes to 500 calories. That's MORE than the pizza, however, these are basically healthy foods and they are about triply filling to the piece of pizza. While the pizza doesn't quite satisfy you for even one meal, the burrito taco combo can keep you feeling full and satisfied at least half the day.

Ate at taco bell on way home from mass. Fell asleep when I got home and slept for a few hours. Woke up -- and man! I'm still not hungry yet! Maybe I'll have a very low calorie day (we'll see).
